I just read (most of) "To mock a mockingbird" and I really love the concept of combining puzzles with fiction. I've heard that "Alice in Wonderland" has some puzzles too. I've also just watched "Ludwig", which has an element of puzzles. Can you recommend any works that combine fiction and puzzles ? :) ...
Also, some of them differ slightly from my problem. I can use usb-tethering and it shows up on my computer as "wired connection 1", but still without internet access.
When I try to ping 8.8.8.8, I get 100% packet loss, even though I'm connected to my phone hotspot.
Additionally, I can't access hotspot settings on my phone, without the settings app crashing :(
Especially the way communities work on mastodon annoys me. I would love to follow some communities on mastodon, but I've had to unfollow all of them, because the comments take up my entire feed.
And the comments show up without the context of the original post, so I have to click on the comment, to enter the post thread it is a part of, and then scroll all the way to the top to see the post it is related to.
Maybe something about activity pub makes it hard to change, but it would be nice if it could be fixed :)
"The cartoon was intended to be an exercise in silliness. While I have never met a cow who could make tools, I felt sure that if I did, they (the tools) would lack something in sophistication and resemble the sorry specimens shown in this cartoon. I regret that my fondness for cows, combined with an overactive imagination, may have carried me beyond what is comprehensible to the average Far Side reader." - Larson
What a dehumanizing way to talk about homeless people :/
People you know, and yourself, could become homeless tomorrow. This dehumanization leads to violence against homeless people.
They're people too and they deserve a place to be. The solution to homelessness is not just moving them to another side of town, but among other things reducing the cost of apartments and houses.
The post is not just about calling people derogatory names, it is also about flying a drone with a voice message. When push comes to shove, the voice message is a threat of calling the police. Where are the crackheads going to go now ?
They have no other place to be. So asking them to leave is just asking them to go to a new place, and then a new place after that and so on, while each day some of them die due to cold, violence and other accumulating factors.
This is a systematic issue, and we need to fix the system and be compassionate, rather than just push poor people around.
I currently don't have much time to put into hobbies, but I did some gardening/landscaping during a break in the rain last weekend. Felt great to get out and move around. Garden finally is put to bed for the winter (or what's left of it).
Juggling is so much fun and you can do it everywhere with everything ^^
There is a circus scene in my city, so there is also a nice community here :)
I started juggling with balls a couple of years ago, and since then I've explored a lot of different props and styles. It is like an endless sea of creativity :)
There is also a lot of good tutorials online and you can start by juggling fruits. It has a very low barrier of entry :)
I have some friends who are good at sewing too and it is like a superpower. They can just look at something and then produce a replica - it us amazing :)
Well bite my shiny metal ass - how is there no wikipedia entry for "meh key"? They have alt key, control key, and even super key, but no meh key. I'm curious if the meh key came from a specific keyboard or what the origins are.
I have some UV plant lights by my desk that are on often. Recently I started to worry if they are increasing my risk of skin cancer. Is that totally far out or should I try to point them away from where I work ?
he crossed the line of freedom of expression a long time ago. I'm from Denmark just like he is, and I can say he spurred hatred far beyond what freedom of expression should allow. What he does is harassment.
this post assumes Linux users are heterosexual men and objectifies women - not very cool :/
//edit
by saying "... another man ..." the meme is implying that the Linux user is a man himself. by referencing the girlfriend of the male Linux user, the meme is implying the male Linux user is likely hetero or bi.
the meme then compares the woman to software, an inanimate object.
I am myself a queer polyamorous Linux user, but this meme feels a lot like all the memes calling leftists for cucks and I would prefer if we kept that out of our communities.
