I've gotten too used to the silent Mac Laptops. Struggling to find an equally silent laptop I can use for Linux (and buy in NZ). Why does Apple have to make awesome hardware and also be a horrible company. Distros that work on Mac hardware are too experimental right now, don't recommend them. I know all about them. You're wasting the limited amount of typing you have in this life.

@grumpygamer I've had my current laptop for a few years now, and honestly I don't think I've ever heard it whir a fan. Asus UX563F. It's my daily, always ran Linux on it, and it only gets rebooted about once every two months.

I've had some noisy Acers, HPs, and custom builds, and we have a couple of different generation MS Surfaces that occasionally try to take flight. But this Asus has been an impressive workhorse.

Sooo initially the idea was that stone paths and similar floorings make movement faster. Now I've noticed that moving on them is actually slower.

The thing is, I haven't even started implementing this mechanic yet... 🤣

We all been talking about google search getting worse and etc, but not being able to recognise a word just due to a single spelling error (lithos) while possessing 10% of the world's computing power is quite something

@lisyarus I've noticed spell checkers everywhere have gotten worse this last few years, thanks presumably to the progression of LLMs.

Which is really quite absurd when you think about it. Of all the things a damned language model should actually be legitimately good for, how on earth is spell check suffering?

Realized I can use dual-source blending to implement proper absorption for water rendering (needs separate per-channel alpha values, thus dual-source). That's probably an unnecessary complication, but imo it looks much better, so, whatever, we roll

@Mastodon @Gargron best of luck with your next chapter, Eugen. You've pulled off building one of the biggest things, without even doing it for the money, and at such a young age. Most of us - critics included - won't come any where near such an achievement however long we live for.
