Idk about separating out the streams, but I've used video and audio for years, and at least for me, it seems to work just fine. You can do direct calls or set up a video and audio chat room if you want. Element is the go to client, I don't know the state of calls on other clients.

I run TubeFree.org and I've been playing with Peertube, but I'm not a Dev so there might be a way to do this.

HOWEVER, caddy just forwards ports and a simple file server.

Peertube needs an actual webserver to serve it's site. It handles the transcoding, activity pub, moving files, etc. But I'm almost positive you need a web server.

What I did was install Peertube from docs and put caddy in front of that. So caddy handles the cert and ports to nginx.

Also just looked over the caddy config. Idk if that'd work, but the more you diverge from the intended set up, the more problems you can run into where the devs won't be able to help as their experience is limited as well. None of us know everything. :-)

Yes. That's a video I did yesterday that gave me the idea for this. Livestreaming attempting to set up the software, talking with the dev in chat, etc.

I have a friend that came from Japan when he was like 14. He's 55 now. Never became a citizen. He's had a gun license and many weapons for ages. The 2and amendment does apply to him, yes.

I just want to understand the rules so I'm a good steward. If there's a better community I'd like to hear it. Nothing on the rules on the right bar saying it wasn't allowed. I see someone else posted it to another privacy community. Which is good. I'm not here for fake internet points, just trying to understand. It might be as simple as that though. IDK. :)

Yes, I'd say that the beauty of the Fedi is we can all find our own communities that share our values and morals. Hopefully we can have openness, but I'm aware some don't want that and that's ok. :) There are plenty of others out there.

The exciting this is the Fediverse is ANYTHING you want it to be.

There's YouTube - Peertube, Twitter - Mastodon, Reddit - Piefed, Forums - NodeBB, Blogs - Ghost, Twitch - Owncast.

The only thing Big Tech can do that we can't or won't is take away peoples choices, rights and enshitify everything.

Contribute where you can! Doesn't have to be code. Just being here gives us all more power. Those companies don't want to admit WE ARE THEIR CONTENT. Without people they're useless. We're taking it back.

I'm no Dev, so I started a show to talk to folks. Do what makes you happy and share. Even if it's as simple as just modding a community and being friendly and welcome.e. we do this together!

The Fediverse is anything and everything. Yes, in general it's a public forum, but if you run your own, you can still connect to others, have private conversations, etc. Until it really gets a groundswell and is tested in courts, I'd say we don't honestly know at this point.

Is email considered a public forum? I can make a DM on my GoToSocial similarly as I can send emails specifically directly to people or an entire mailing list.

Only time will tell though.
