Could this be turned into a business opportunity for someone to start a search engine prioritizing real websites that don't sound like AI? It could carry some advertising or charge for a no-ads version. People would use it. What are the main obstacles that stop anyone doing this? It's not just buying their products either. It's using their products, even the ones that are free. Every view on YouTube and every Google search supports Google. Every time you use Facebook Marketplace or WhatsApp or Instagram it supports Meta. Every time you browse Amazon without buying, or use any service hosted on AWS, it helps Amazon.

We need to cut out these corporations as thoroughly as we can, by not even giving them our traffic.

I think there's value to being specific about the rights of trans people because they are in an especially vulnerable position and are actively being denied basic rights. Yes we need rights for all, but to say "Why should trans people get special treatment with a bill like this?" at this moment has a whiff of the "all lives matter" about it.

I hope that's your view of the Democrats introducing this bill right now, and not your view of the fight for trans people's rights. Fighting for trans people and for immigrants are absolutely the front lines of the battle against fascism. Everyone lives behind those lines and everyone's freedom depends on pushing those front lines forwards.

That's because the Americans who were saying that are all either in favour of ICE or working for them. But there are just as many Americans who did not shout about the right to own guns because they could see all the problems with them, and many of these Americans are quietly organizing resistance. I'm not in the USA and I won't judge American people for not picking up a gun and mounting a solitary suicidal attack on better-armed Nazi thugs. Proper resistance takes numbers and organization, and Americans have been trained to be inexperienced at collective action.

That said, some of the scenes in Minneapolis show that collective action can work against thugs like ICE. They are cowards in the end, and you need enough people to resist in small ways for it to be effective.
