Any good recommendations?

Gotham Knights is easily the best TV DC has ever made. Doom Patrol is great but too weird. I mean I like weird but Doom Patrol is just too far.

Absolute crime it only got one season.

Renewed vigor for well pretty much everything after figuring out February stuff but today is a recovery ride so time for

musicman OP ,

On that note, are any doing ? It's by no means an A event for me but I am going to attempt a 5 hour century. I've never attempted one before. The closest I got i was pacing for someone else's attempt. 28 minutes is a lot to shave off but also I went out of the gate way harder and stayed outside of pace lines more than I would have if doing my own attempt.

I'd love to watch some anime or something but 3 hours on the bike means need to conserve some brain power. No subtitles...maybe if I am feeling great at the end i can turn something on, but I am not a natural endurance athlete. 3 hours is a long time.

Chatting with a friend about Cloudflare's intermittent outages today, they brought up an interesting point: How many organizations have started relying on Cloudflare to do basic security blocking and tackling stuff, like stopping SQL injection attacks at the edge? Maybe your devs were lazy at blocking this stuff in the past b/c CF was the control layer to compensate for that.

You might say well okay but if CF is down, so are the sites relying on them, and that's true. But a lot of organizations will switch CF off during these times to keep their sites and services reachable and running. And my friend's point was that for those organizations, they might want to take a closer look at the traffic they received during this eight-hour outage window or whatever, and I think that's sound advice.

Trying to find home for Sabbath. Sabby lived w/ me for 5 months, so I know him well. He's good w/ other dogs & cats. Biggest fault is lacks any awareness about his internal temp. U really must watch him in summer.
I would take him, but hard to sneak in ~70lb dog...especially when my dog thinks riling Sabby up is world's best thing.
Family that has Sabby has 2 kids & he is great w/ them, but they r finding it difficult to care 4 him. He's got jackets, etc that you can have.

Friends of CC Music Monthly Meeting - Educational materials
Sunday, Nov 16 • 15:00 – 16:00 US Central (this is not NY idk why people think everyone lives on east coast) • meet.jit.si/ccmusic https://calendar.app.google/BB9v4p6sMWdRjwkS9

We will be discussing how to get folks involved to teach instruments, recording tools, business stuff, etc. Possibly also materials about

Add the invite to your calendar if u need timezone conversion.

As always, plz share

musicman OP ,
@musicman@mastodon.social avatar

Maybe we should brand this as and not education? No one is getting a degree from what we are doing. Perhaps i have spent too much time in the and ecosystem to understand how the general public sees the word "education" (not to mention that i am in the 4th generation of "mainstream" educators...literally everyone living in the generation older than me is a formal educator or retired, as are my brother and wife...and at least 2 neighbors)

musicman OP ,
@musicman@mastodon.social avatar

One thing that I would like to do is have things recorded but if people don't want to be recorded we could always just make that clear in promotional materials, possibly having multiple sessions for different timezones

As far as languages, happy to promote materials in any language. I think English and Spanish are probably the most obvious simply because I dont know what sort of access folks in China will have plus from a timezone perspective for people that will actually see this thread

musicman OP ,
@musicman@mastodon.social avatar

For people that are like "I thought this was about technology" that is simply because no one else has volunteered to share and that is what I know.

But also recording equipment is technology...as is a pencil.

On the topic of language, would love to get folks teaching languages for musicians. I think Indonesian would be ideal to help bridge the community. They have a great scene. If we can get Indonesia involved they may be able to get other Asia-Pacific countries involved

musicman OP ,
@musicman@mastodon.social avatar

But also, what do want to learn? We have monthly meetings so folks can come and voice their opinions. We've tried weekends and week days and we don't get a lot of musicians. Does this mean musicians arent interested or just don't know about it? Hard to say. If people just arent interested in skillshare then @friendsofccmusic can do something else but right now all of the things people want are going to require more resources than we have.

musicman OP ,
@musicman@mastodon.social avatar

As far as resources, we have no incoming funds. If we want to say, host our own , someone is going to have to step up and pay for that. We do have a Peertube and Dave has been a great host but this is just an example of things we could do with more cash. I have to delete videos from time to time to stay under the space limit. That is one reason why I dont mind things not being recorded but there are also others such as shared experience which artificial scarcity can create

musicman OP ,
@musicman@mastodon.social avatar

If this is your first time hearing about @friendsofccmusic note that @Cheesetruck and I will be debuting "Netlabel Review" in December. This will be a quarterly review of what we find interesting in the scene. If you would like to do something similar, please feel free! We are two white dudes in the USA. There are a ton of other perspectives out there!

To me, podcasting & vcasting is all about participatory culture. So participate! Send me your show and I'll make sure we talk about it

Sounds like i may have finally convinced my wife to go to . London's ridiculous flight taxes or at least Virgin Atlantic's refusal to bake them into reward flights seems to have been the final straw.

Any suggestions? We probably wont do much if any of the Inca trail. I wouldn't say for certain that we wont go elsewhere but mostly literally looking at Lima.

This never goes anywhere maybe because I dont use tags so maybe today I will.

time so

I feel like folks know what AMA means but in case not: ask me anything.

Anything is supposed to mean anything but I can provide some topics:

musicman OP ,
@musicman@mastodon.social avatar

I didnt even use some of the more obvious tags. Feeling a bit like Steve Rodgers at the moment.

But since I'm here, I only do this on recovery days...maybe on some endurance days if I happen to do them inside. I prefer to do recovery rides inside because then I dont have to worry about dogs, etc. Nothing against dogs, picture of mine attached but you do need to be mindful of them on trails.

Plus I can just watch some & relax rather than worry about crashing. FKT attempt Sunday

musicman OP ,
@musicman@mastodon.social avatar

I am not sure if it is because of age or distance but my coach generally doesn't have me do openers. This week every ride is a recovery ride. Of course, i have have had really tough rides on back-to-back weekends so perhaps that is part of it too. Things have been going really well with the coach though so even though I think openers might make sense, who knows.

Also, if you give me something too short it is not going to do anything because I am a sprinter. Too long and too much fatigue so...

musicman OP ,
@musicman@mastodon.social avatar

As to "i am a sprinter" lots of things point to this. DNA tests show i am not gifted for endurance. That probably surprises folks. When I was a kid playing basketball I was big & all the running really made me tired. But what this did at a young age was teach me that I could push through fatigue. Some of that may be physiological. Like maybe I am not genetically gifted but am physically trained for endurance. The other thing though is mental. I feel like I can push through pain more than others

musicman OP ,
@musicman@mastodon.social avatar

Also though I ran the 400m at a competitive level in high school. I think if I had stuck with it the 800m might have been my best spot but at the time I didnt have the endurance base. The 800m though I think is less pure sprinter territory. If you look at my Strava KOMs I am still being as old as I am regionally competitive in the 45s to 3m area.

Might be a pain thing but I feel like I can put out good power in aero position. At pure watt level I should not be competitive against the kids

musicman OP ,
@musicman@mastodon.social avatar

Strava backs this up to some degree though where they break sprint from attack seems a little strange to me. Maybe it is just me but a 2 minute and a 10 minute effort are not the same. Anyway, I am an Elite sprinter per strava which is not quite as Elite as it sounds since it is below semi-pro but if i spent any time in the gym at all I could easily be at semi-pro levels.

But that wont happen for a while if ever because after Sunday training for my first 400km starts.
