Me and my fiancée are trying different shading for my next illustration. Just a draft, but which one do you guys prefer? Left or right? :)

Illustration of a cat sitting by a window in a cosy apartment full of plants. The light is vivid and yellow, a right of light passing through the glass.

@NIGHTEN
Left. For me, the sunbeams on the right catch my eye too much and distract me from the rest of the illustration. The left one feels more gentle and peaceful.

The last finishing touches :)

Not sure if it's even noticeable haha

@NIGHTEN

It's noticeable. Both versions are nice! The bluer one feels more restful to me at the moment (I am badly short on sleep, so restful is great!)

Thanks for sharing! Interesting to see.

I've been adjusting colors for an illustration for half the evening before realizing my blue light filter was on :clippy_sad:

@NIGHTEN
Oh no!

But it would be interesting to see what a difference that makes, if you want to share the blue-light version.

Should I simplify my art in order to post more often?

@lady_alys@hachyderm.io avatar

@NIGHTEN
I love your art style and always enjoy seeing new pieces but I wouldn't want to trade quality for quantity (although it's your art so if that was a decision you made for your own reasons, then of course that would be fine).

I've liked seeing your works in progress when you've posted them. I don't know if doing that more often might oe something you want to do?

Also I wonder if it would be interesting for you to post smaller sections of previous works at a higher resolution, to zoom in on the details, or to give a new view of any parts you especially liked. That could be fun if you wanted to do it.

All the Hacker News comments bitching about Cendyne's fursona make me want to finish my next blog post sooner and submit it to HN out of spite.

I feel the same! Also the more websites that have furry-style art sprinkled amongst the writing, the more that is nomalised.

I'm not a and currently know almost nothing about furry culture, so I would be grateful to hear from furries if using images that look like a on my website would be seen as appropriation or inappropriate in any other way.
(I would source the images legitimately of course; no stealing them from other sites or using LLMs to "create" them.)

The URL has changed I think. This seems to be it now:

Interesting. I wonder what's up.

I found a copy of it at the link below, but we'd probably want to use caution when reading since it's been withdrawn(?) on the original site.

I don’t understand why we must spend billions of dollars and waste so much water for AI.

I just created an “AI-generated image” from the original using a few dabs of the retouch tool in the Photos app.

Might have taken a sip of water afterwards but that was it.

(Is there a word/phrase for taking a regular image and making it look like it was AI generated? There should be.)

Excellent alt text, BTW. I hadn't noticed the glasses protruding from your skull till I read it.

A post written by Maura Campbell @mauracampbell00 saying:

  • an inability to bullshit
  • a pathological need for fairness
  • a compulsion to help others
  • an inexplicable need to expose hypocrisy
  • an excessive tendency to let other people be
