Dating apps exploit you, dating profiles lie to you, and sex is basically something old people used to do. You might as well consider it: can AI help you find love? ...
I’ve been single for 3 years and haven’t had a date in 2 years. Not for a lack of trying but I’m in a fairly remote area, most singles nearby aren’t my type (putting it very politely) and last but not least; dating apps absolutely promote ’Tinder culture’.
Dating apps will recommend me supermodel gold diggers 120km’s away before someone close with something in common. And then the chances of matching are low to none.
At least this Fate app seems to be trying something different and (seemingly) positive. I’d give it a go, can’t be any worse than what I’m using already.
SST was great DAMN SHAME THEY NEVER MADE ANY SEQUELS. NOT A SINGLE ONE! No one can convince me otherwise!
Anyway, hopefully The Helldivers movie holds a candle to SST and doesn’t screw the pooch like Starship Troopers 2-A̴̰͉͙̐̈́͜Ḫ̵̢͖̪̹̀H̷̡̓̎̈́͠H̶̬͚̉̽͂̈̚ ̶̡̭̦͉̉M̵͕̤͐̚̕Y̵̹̮̲̗̽ ̷͔̔͂͆̑̾̓H̴̝͕̓E̴̛̖͎͒͛͐̑Ä̷̡̪͎́͊̄D̴̫̖̍̿̆͜! THERE ARE NO TERRIBLE STARSHIP TROOPERS SEQUELS!
Spacebar sounded really promising when I checked them out years ago.
The big Discord.com features currently left unimplemented or with partial implementations are:
Voice/Video support (WebRTC protocol support implemented, but lacking UDP protocol implementation)
Unfortunately, seems like it’s still not at a point where it could cover basic Discord functionality.
Edit: I should be clear, I’m not trying to discourage it. I really hope it succeeds to the goal of parity with Discord! Love to hear from someone who has used it a bit.
Beautiful lady gives me a big smile and a kind hello and my first thoughts are: “Don’t get your hopes up, mate. No way she’s single and if she is then no way she’s into someone like you. Be kind, but keep those expectations in check.”
Discover the exciting new features of TeamSpeak 6, including a complete redesign, screen sharing capabilities, and community server management, all aimed at improving user experience in gaming communication.
They have been making advances in their UI design but now it feels like a ‘modern’ late 200’s UI. Would be nice if the UX was properly developed to modern standards so that neurotypical non-techie people could use it.
gadget that lasts a few years before you have to toss them and replace them.
On one hand; yes they are disposable tech. On the other hand I have 2 sets of AirPods that are about 6 years old that I still use regularly.
I bought a brand new set and it’s amazing how much better the new ones are but I still use one set of my old ones at work and another set at home when I don’t want to risk the new ones. I can’t justify throwing out the old sets when they still work well.
I looked into Stoat around the time of their name change announcement.
On the one hand it looks good and is definitely the closest Discord clone at the moment. I was disappointed about a couple of things though:
They have a self hosted server option but it doesn’t have the full feature suite and seems like they’ve decided that it won’t in the foreseeable future.
They’re aware of federation and have no plans to head down that path for the software.
Bit of a shame because if I could self host the full software that’d be pretty damn good as a replacement for all of my friends. If it could be federated in a way where servers could work in tandem that’d be a great distributed alternative to Discord for the entire community! I understand why they’re not pursuing those avenues but it’s still a shame.

Not to mention every building in Taiwan is laced with explosives
Be me in a different life, changing a lightbulb in my Taiwanese home. Slip on the ladder and grab the light holder tearing it from the wall. The wiring breaks against the det. cord causing a neighbourhood wide chain reaction that can be seen from space.
Standing in front of St. Peter with 50 other rather angry neighbours.
It’s funny that DeArrow has lead to me watching more videos with super click bait titles. It’s almost as if actually using the content for the title instead of some vague notion or off content question is more likely to pick a video to watch.
I know there’s a reason channels do it but this is just my experience.
I agree. My Plex server is majority 720p with decent bitrate with a lot of 1080p with decent bitrate and a tiny amount of 4K with subpar bitrate (otherwise it’s too large). The 720p is noticeable on the big screen but good luck spotting between 1080p and 4K. It might be different with full 4K Blueray rips but I’m not using 50-80Gb per movie.
Can shortwave be used for things like file transfer? My thoughts are on the amount of times multiple videos of instances (ICE killings are currently the most famous) being indisputable thanks to witnesses providing video that contradicts official statements.
Meanwhile Steam is a feature rich platform with a bunch of features that regular C-suite types would never green light because they don’t have a direct ROI.
Direct profit is the main driving factor for decision making by C-suite types. EGS is a great example of this: it has the very bare bones of what constitutes an online store, you can see products and make purchases. Almost everything else is half assed and tacked on. It’s frankly amazing that a system like Steam exists when they could (and still could) enshittify really badly.
Anyone else here old enough to remember old-school modding with multiplayer games? Having to make sure everyone at the LAN has the same base game with the right patches applied, the right mod versions and of course if a new version has come out since last meet there might be files that need to be changed/shifted/removed.
Ahh those were the days… that sucked. Thank god for Steam workshop! So much easier especially in games with deep support for it. ARK Survival Evolved for example. If you join a server that uses mods they automatically install from Workshop! What a time to be alive.
Though I have to admit, I haven’t used EGS for a while, I bet their version of Steam Workshop is even better! Otherwise Tim would look like an absolute muppet with the constant criticisms of other platforms.

Yeah, I call bs on falling in love with beer on the first sip. My beer drinking friends describe it as “an acquired taste” or in other words ’tastes terrible’.
If you told me that my games could be slightly cheaper if only I use a platform like EGS I’d still happily pay the extra bit.
The much more likely scenario is that larger publishers like EA would charge the same amount and pocket the profits while I’d deal with a shit store in return.
Further to that; EGS is essentially just a store. A really shitty store. Meanwhile Steam is a feature rich platform with a bunch of features that regular C-suite types would never green light because they don’t have a direct ROI. E.g. Steam link is an absolutely amazing system for playing games on the lounge room big screen without buying a console. You know how much Steam Link costs? Is it a subscription? Maybe a limited time trial after game purchases? Nope. Completely free. Along with a shitload of other systems that cost money to maintain which are funded by that 30%.
No I think NOT_RICK is right. The Trump administration has done nothing but follow the rule of law and been persecuted the whole way. What makes you think they’ll start going against the constitution/courts/rule of law now? /S
Makes sense. What did they have; 4 maybe 5 people working on the game? One gets called away in a small studio, especially such a creative savant as Todd, then it’ll hurt the project. /s
Or, and this is slightly hypothetical, maybe the team he leads is incapable of autonomous decision making due to leadership (Todd) making it impossible.
I like Bethesda’s games typically but Starfield was definitely one of their most ‘meh’. Not even bad enough to be interesting.
It would be good to see a mass exodus from Xitter by governments and companies. The same entities that always say to ‘protect the children’ and the same platform that {checks notes} generated CSAM.
I don’t know if this is something that I’ve set up somehow but I get a spiffy 2FA pop up on my Apple devices when I sign into my account. It’s not an app or whatnot but a part of the OS.
European consumers are fighting back against the U.S. following Trump’s threats to take control of Greenland, a Danish territory. Word of mouth, the posters with the little grab tabs at the bottom, that one old lady who tells everyone around town the gossip including deeply personal information. The irony of a game with a parody government that controls votes (for freedom) that wages unrestricted wars (for peace) and controls the flow of media and information (for truth) and AH uses a media site bought to control information on behalf of a government that’s killing people for peace and arguing that voting is against freedom.
It’d be a terrible idea not to be on Xitter as a company but there’s still some irony there.
Well, first I would want to try to help everybody understand that the perception may not be exactly correct, at least from our point of view. So I would never want to tell someone what to think or that they're wrong, but our viewpoint is that we are trying to help consumers around the world. We're just doing it through different channels. We still have a very sizable business in the client and mobile markets. We are also, of course, servicing our data center customers.
And what's going on right now is that the TAM and data center is growing just absolutely tremendously. And we want to make sure that, as a company, we help fulfill that TAM as well.
What a moron. The way I see it they may as well be transparent instead of trying to gaslight people into “this is for your own good”. Probably get less backlash from just being straightforward.
iPhone users in particular really hate change. Every time Apple makes any large change in software or hardware design there’s a lot of pushback. Part of the appeal of Apple for a lot of their users is getting a product and it operates the same as the old one that they’ve always been used to.
I’m not saying whether or not it’s justified but it’s worth keeping in mind there were a lot of complaints when the last iOS design launched, when the home button was removed, when the lock button shifted to the side, (famously) when the 3.5mm jack was removed. The list goes on.
