That’s it! That’s the last straw! I’m pulling all of my LMY (Lemmy) stocks from the market and cancelling all advertising deals with Tim Lemmy because your comment contained a no-no word.

I hope you’re happy. /s

But for real, fuck corporate self censorship bullshit right in the c-suite bungholeo.

I bought some RAM about 6 months ago. It costs me $299AUD for 64Gb, the same set from the same store is now $1,399. That’s an insane increase.

I found it funny, in a morbid way, when the then conservative Australian Prime Minister announced 4 floods in Queensland each only weeks apart. I’m paraphrasing here since I can’t be bothered looking up the numbers. The first was once in 500 years, the next; once in a century, then one in 50 years and then once in a decade. The timelines just kept getting shorter! Eventually they’d be once a week floods, then once a day!! But it’s totally normal and definitely not climate change.

Hard to believe that some people still take morons like that seriously. You’d really have to be in a state of complete denial to look at the 4th flood, listen to the PM and think “boy am I glad the Greeny tree huggers aren’t in charge.”

Great movie. I watched as just something to do with zero knowledge (not seeing a trailer etc) and was blown away at how good it was.

I. Am. Hyped!

I liked TW: Warhammer even though the setting isn’t my jam, but it’s well made and fun. WH40K has always been my thing and I’m super keen to see how they handle bringing it to the Total War playstyle and hoping it’s really good.

Havarti & rosemary smashed potatoes

I boiled the potatoes, then smashed flat on an oiled sheet, brushed with rosemary browned butter, and roasted until starting to crisp up. Then I topped each with a slice of havarti and broiled till they were golden and bubbly.

A sheet pan with small flattened potatoes, each covered with a golden lace of melted bubbly cheese.

I’ve been diehard anti-Apple for anything but their mobile devices (iPhone, ipad) for most of my life. Overpriced, underpowered. Now I own a MacBook Pro M4 and I just can’t get over how good it is. What a turnaround their change to Apple Silicone has made, it’s actually wild to me.

MacBooks, specifically, are still expensive but actually value for money now.

Valve hopes the Steam Machine will make devs pay more attention to Linux anti-cheat support ( www.pcguide.com )

Steam Machine’s upcoming release means more people will be playing games on Linux, specifically SteamOS. The idea of ditching Windows for gaming is becoming more attractive, as the Steam Machine is first-party desktop-level hardware that’s optimized for Linux-based SteamOS. The biggest hurdle for Linux gamers right now is a ...

Stoat made a small mention in their name change blog that there’s a big update in the pipeline to bring in voice chat and screen sharing, two of the fundamental functions used by every Discord user that I know. If Stoat manages to bring those two features in at a similar parity to Discord then it’ll be a legitimate candidate for a Discord replacement.

Unfortunately, from my research most other platforms either don’t have voice and screen share at all or they do but it’s implemented in a way that’s far from optimal.

No idea what you’re talking about.

They’re referring to an old controversy that was a mixture of bad decisions and conspiracy. They’ve now linked an article to the outcome of it. I won’t cover the whole thing but Apple “let slip” and “admitted” to slowing down old phones. This obviously feeds into the planned obsolescence conspiracies but at the time it wasn’t exactly hidden, Apple (one of their higher ups though I can’t think of who) said they were doing it.

The real issue was that it was implemented without transparency. The point is the device underclocks to prevent unexpected shut downs which makes it slower as a trade off for stability. Devices still do this, but it’s now shown in the settings and warns that the battery needs replacing.
