@bevy These blog posts are so awesome. Even for someone like me who knows nothing about this topic, I learn so much since they provide short explanations and the right keywords to search and learn. Thank you. This is invaluable.

When someone asks me if Signal is a competitor of Matrix, I always answer:

> We aren't competitors. We are friends trying to beat the same monsters.

Tired of this silicon valley tech oligarchy bullshit. Thinking it's about time to ditch gmail as my sorta catch all stable email address.

What's everyone liking these days?

I'm ok with paying for it. If it's free, that means we're the product not the customer, ya know?

Since highly suggests this, I'm finally using Signal!
Don't know what this has to do with security, but my teeth have never been whiter.

Message order in Matrix: right now, we are deliberately inconsistent, https://artificialworlds.net/blog/2024/12/04/message-order-in-matrix/, by @andybalaam .

Excellent article explaining different events orderings in Matrix, the impact and a possible solution.

Hugely disappointing to see Andy Yen (Proton CEO) tout the Republican Party as the ones “standing up for the little guys” 🤢

Night Train Map in Europe (2024), https://back-on-track.eu/night-train-map/. This is an interactive map: each line is clickable and brings information about all the stops, schedules, frequency and the company operating this line. That’s pure beauty.

Combined with InterRail, it’s so much travel freedom and opportunities in Europe!

Large zoom over the northern part of the Europe showing night train lines in Norway, Sweden and Finland.

Look ma, […] a new JIT compiler for PostgreSQL, https://www.pinaraf.info/2024/03/look-ma-i-wrote-a-new-jit-compiler-for-postgresql/.

The author explains how he is writing a new JIT compiler for PostgreSQL. The author uses a technics described in https://arxiv.org/pdf/2011.13127.pdf, called copy-patch. It’s an old idea with a new name, but it’s fun.
