I made some pewter tiles for a Kili (from The Hobbit) cosplayer. These will go on the collar of his coat. I has originally planned to make these by pressing metal between 3D printed forms, but they are so small that the detail is too fine to come through with that method.

Going to give this site another shot. This is the first of two Aragorn coronation vambraces that I'm making. The second is still in progress, and I'm kind of ashamed at how long it's taking me. Life keeps getting in the way.

Video of a leather, steel, and brass vambrace being held and turned back and forth to show all sides. The metal has been embossed with symmetrical wing like patterns, and engraved with crowns and stars.

I did some more R&D for Aragorn's coronation armor. I also acquired a hydraulic press, so I can stop abusing my bench vise. I'd like to be able to punch as much detail into the steel as I can into the aluminum, but I'm very happy with how these are looking either way.
I'm also getting a bit frustrated with how often this site seems to be down or too slow to use, which is why I'm not posting as much.

I'm slowly doing some R&D for this project, and learning where my 3D modeling skills need improvement. The forms are printed at a high infill percentage, and used to press the aluminum sheet in a bench vice. This first set has flaws and not enough detail, but it worked well enough to show me the concept has potential. My next set will have sharper details, and hopefully just the right tolerance gap to perfectly shape the metal.

I had free time to work on some 3D modeling in Blender last night. This will be my next significant project after the crown. I'll be using these models to 3D print some dies for stamping thin metal. But I couldn't resist roughly assembling the parts to see how close it looks to the original.

I plated the Arwen butterfly crown yesterday. I'm fairly happy with how it turned out. Some small flaws in the finish, but really only visible up close.
