I’ve just launched the Gaza Verified Emergency Appeal to get our remaining 8 families who are stuck in the danger zone in the North to relative safety in the South.

Based on conversations @joynewacc and I have had with them to ascertain what they need (transport, land, tents), we have set the campaign goal at $15,000.

To kick things off, I’ve made a personal donation of $1,000.

These families are living in terror under nightly bombings by Israel. Please, if you can, help them survive Israel’s ongoing genocide. And please share this as widely as you can.

Here are two places with decent prices and info about the different types. We bought a mattress from the first one and it was shipped from the second one, so they must be related. It arrived in a timely manner and in good condition.

Eventually, when our person became less able to move in bed, we added an alternating air-pressure overlay on top of it to prevent pressure sores, that cost another ~$50.

On a Croatian island that served as a refugee camp for Bosnian women and children, summer 1995. Run by Suncokret. (I cannot recall or quickly find the name of the island, but I have it in my journals.)

Large whitewashed stone building against a blue sky and sea, morning or midday. One section has four stories, two windows each, except the ground floor has one window and a door. The other section is three stories tall and has 12 windows and two doors. Most of the windows are covered by double shutters, dark blue and light blue. It has an orange clay tile roof. There are narrow cylindrical chimneys/vents and television antennae on the roof. The building is on a vacant plaza of white stone and in the center is a construction that I am guessing is a water fountain or well. A low circular wall of (yes) white stone, and from the center is a large vertical beam with a horizontal protrusion. Behind this is a large disk on edge, which I am guessing is some kind of water wheel for pumping water. I could be very wrong.
