Here's from this morning at mega-coffee corp. It isn't the crowds of the other place, but not bad for drawing people today, at least. The window light adds something.

Here's an from yesterday on my super absorbent thirsty sketchbook, 11x17 inch when open. The sketches are looser in this book cause the paper makes you move your hand fast and no detail.

Here are some random holiday envelopes that I sent out. Pretty nuts, eh? Thoughts?

This is from minutes ago at the indy coffee shop, so popular in my corner of town. I bought a bunch of these accordion books. Painful how grabby the paper is. Oh well, the books will only take me a few years to work through..

A sketch of Iggy Pop on wet rice paper from yesterday. I'm new to drawing on this stuff, it's absorbent like tissue, but still strong. Most of the experiments go down in flames. The texture works pretty well for this Iggy though.

Novemberspaziergang - handgemaltes Aquarellgemälde

Novemberspaziergang ist ein Aquarellgemälde im Hochformat der Künstlerin Karen Kaspar. Es zeigt eine abstrahierte Landschaft mit einem einsamen Baum und der Silhouette zweier gehender Menschen. Der Himmel ist dunkel und Schneeflocken tanzen. Das Gemälde ist nur mit zwei Farben gemalt: Indigoblau und Sienabraun sowie dem Weiß des Papiers. Es war ein trüber, bewölkter Novembertag, als wir unseren Sonntagsspaziergang begannen. Niemand war in der Nähe, alles war ruhig und friedlich, als wir entlang kahler Felder und einsamer Bäume gingen. Plötzlich zogen dunkle Wolken auf und es begann zu schneien. Es war fast wie ein kleiner Schneesturm und als wir endlich unser Auto erreichten, sahen wir aus wie kleine Schneemänner, weil wir überall mit Schnee bedeckt waren. Dieses wundervolle Erlebnis inspirierte mich, dieses abstrakte Landschaftsgemälde in Aquarellfarben zu malen.

I went to see the ocean today for a break. It's still as you can see from the streetlight. In the above sketch, someone walked across my field of vision just as I was starting, so here they are in a sketch.

If you thought that surely I won't post yet more ink sketches of Welsh bridges over canals... well, here are more. Probably my last. As you can see, the drawing is done all at once with the brush. Using a pencil would be too many tools.

A page from my yesterday. Unrelated to that: Kathe Kollwitz was born yesterday or so, but many years before. She lived till the end of WW2, but was only 14 years younger than Van Gogh.

Wednesday. This is from 10 months ago-- my guitar island. It was entered in a poster contest by a friend. Did not win.

This is my first sketch at a cafe in 2025. The experience is a lot like 2024 for me, but the approach evolves. I enjoy the hubbub and try to stay anonymous.

This is an ink sketch or high pigment watercolor that comes in a bottle. Its a scene at a cafe with patrons waiting or drinking coffee. The sketch is rough and not detailed.
