Matrix is a protocol with multiple options for front-end clients. If you don't like Element, for example, you can try Cinny. They both use Matrix but are different apps.

Day 533 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing

Today's game is Subnautica. After hearing the news about Krafton i was really disappointed. This was a big game to me when i was younger, and i've kind of been trying to figure out how to play this without budging on my morals. The answer seems kind of obvious, but it was hard to pull off for me for some reason. ...

apprehensively_human ,

Playing in VR made me realize how poorly pancake mode gives you a sense of scale. Everything is subnautica is absolutely massive. Peepers' eyes are the size of dinner plates

Emphasis on nice. I would much rather receive a single pair of nice merino wool socks or something with a neat design than a 10 pack of Walmart white crew socks.

a lack of definitions of terms. Is a town with 150 people "urban" because you have a street address and most people don't work in another town/city, is it "suburban" because you need to go to a different town to buy groceries, or is it "rural" because that's how most people who live there self-identify?

The question asked how you would describe your community, but I would call my entire city my community which has a mix of all three options. My house is single-family detached but sits in an urban area, but there's a suburb right across the street from me.

Journiv has got me to try journaling seriously for the first time. I'm a bit envious of those able to do so naturally, I've been forgetting to make daily entries more often than not

One of our recent council meetings had a developer wanting to rezone a lot to medium density but needed a variance to allow for less parking given the size of the parcel.

Council unanimously approved the rezoning citing the need for more medium density projects, but were completely divided on the vote for the parking variance. They could not fathom that a developer would know best how many parking spaces would be needed to still be functional and profitable. All they wanted was to reduce the requirement from 1.5 spaces per unit down to 1.25 spaces per unit. A decrease of like 9 spaces total.

Luckily the variance was eventually approved but not before a lot of debate and grandstanding about what people are supposed to do with their cars.

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good.

CMHC already has programs available to fully fund non-market housing initiatives as long as you can meet certain requirements. One of the biggest issues is that nearly everybody sees housing as an investment and not simply a shelter so if there's no money in it then they aren't interested.

Biking through unplowed snow sucks, but it's hardly impossible. The worst part about it is having to deal with traffic at the same time

My workplace has moved offices which has changed my commute from a 10 minute bike ride to a 15 minute drive. My daily routine is in absolute shambles.

You can't post all these in a single album?

apprehensively_human ,

You've received a tonne of responses and I'm not even sure if this has been posted by someone else already, but there's a YouTube video called "How to Radicalize a Normie" which goes over at length exactly how the alt right gets its hooks into young people and why it's so hard for them to break out.

Funny enough, Magic has a keyword for exactly this called Wordy.

What's your process for running the unpacker executable? Maybe it depends on the game, but I set up a wineprefix through Lutris and always seem to run into issues getting it to complete properly without any unpacking errors.

I was shocked to see no mention of Ori in any of the comments here before I realized you had already recommended it in the OP. I have no issues with seconding that, the Ori series is really good.

I've been using Actual for a while now, probably close to a year. Before that I was on YNAB, which isn't FOSS but does have a huge library of material for how to make your budget work for you instead of the other way around.

I got off YNAB after they kept raising their subscription fees for seemingly no reason. Actual is not nearly as feature-rich but you can't really argue with the price.

This is the way it should be done. Instead of spending millions of dollars on a multi-year feasibility study and building hundreds of stores, just build a few and see how it goes.

I dislike Boeing as much as the next guy, but they only took over manufacturing in 1997 so this plane would have been built by McDonnell Douglas. I'm also pretty sure it's not Boeing's responsibility to maintain aircraft that are no longer in production.

Price of gas just went up overnight which got me thinking how silly it is that gasoline is priced by supply/demand when everybody needs it and isn't going to buy less of it because it's too expensive.

More specifically, we force it to undergo phase changes under different pressures, and in doing so it absorbs/releases latent heat in the air. It's converting latent heat to sensible heat.

Also, are you “undiagnosed, but suspicious-to-confident that you have it”, or are you just taking this for a spin?

I heavily suspect that I have it (edit: inattentive type.) My intention here was to gauge the effects of medication, and if impressed I was hoping to be more encouraged to seek professional help.
