@apc, Adulting is hard, and perhaps no one makes it harder on herself than Minare Koda. Though she is good-looking, highly expressive, and fairly intelligent, she stumbles through life thanks to an over-abundance of sass, laziness, occasional over-drinking, and a plethora of minor, everyday bad decisions.
From constantly being on the edge of losing her soup curry job, to never quite having success at relationships, Minare epitomizes the day to day disasters of Adulting.

@TechCrunch Translation is as much about art, context, and understanding multiple cultures and slang as it is mechanically looking up the equivalent word in the other language. What I WANT is a dedicated staff of wordsmiths helping me learn a new language. Not an AI program bumbling its way to partially correct answers sprinkled with a few hilariously wrong hallucinations.
I’m staying far away from Duolingo as long as Mr. CEO person keeps talking up his dumb AI ambitions.
Panel 1: A landscape view of a temple floating above the clouds. The landscape is colored with golden and purple hues, which are unusual for the land of mortals. In the foreground, a sign reads, "Temple of the Goddess of Life."
Panel 2: The Goddess of Life kneels in her garden, watering it while whistling. She is happy and enjoying her peaceful daily routine.
Panel 3: Suddenly, the Goddess of Life is violently punched in the face by a flying lemon coming from below the clouds.
Panel 4: A top-down view of a catapult with lemons. Pepper, a young witch, and her cat, Carrot, are in command. They bump fists in a "Check!" sound while watching the sky with fierce eyes.
I'm curious how other #anime fans are feeling about #SHOSHIMIN. I'm really enjoying it, but I imagine it could feel slow for many fans of the mystery genre.
@neatchee I've enjoyed it a lot, but I also understand if people don't like it.
It is very slow paced most of the time, and I'd even say it has an odd flow to its storytelling. Like, each storyline has reveled in being mundane instead of extraordinary.
But I love its art and cinematography, the subtle way its characters interact, how it forces you to pay attention to every single detail without holding your hand, and how the solutions often require you to make your own leaps of logic.
@arstechnica How much do I need to pay to NOT be offered these shameless rip offs? $0? Sold!
I continue to be very happy to only pay for media subscriptions that benefit ME. That means: If I'm paying I don't get ads and I don't get these kind of "perks" that end up costing me MORE not LESS in the long run.
Streaming service prices are out of control. Same as their new profit models of charging me more on top of showing me ads. I've said a big "nope" and am happy to do without.
Zenshu, a show that I was constantly afraid would take a wrong turn, finished pretty strong.
The show’s not perfect and not one that rises up to must see territory, but it is smart and fun. And while the ending is a bit abbreviated, it and the whole show, stayed on track and did what they were supposed to do.
That, plus some really cool #anime nerd references to famous shows and movies made this enjoyable to watch and talk about.
Did you know the bald eagle is not the official bird of the United States? That's about to change -- a bipartisan bill that deems Haliaeetus leucocephalus as our national avian is heading to President Biden's desk for signature after the House passed legislation today.
