if i published a game on steam that consisted of an "editor window and HDL toolchain behind it (unseen, always works with no user effort)" where the objective is "implement logic in a real HDL with very little handrails but a working debugger and tutorials" and there is a progression, leaderboard, and achievements

would you play it?
would you playtest it?

    I have 2 computers:

    • Desktop with NVidia 3070Ti, Windows
    • Laptop with AMD 600M integrated, Linux

I'd like to get a new monitor that supports both VRR (Gsync/Freesync) and HDR on both these machines (or if I can't support both with 1 monitor, the Desktop).

Price matters to me but "quality" kinda doesn't (my eyesight sucks & I prefer 1080p over hidpi, hidpi is glitchy). I just want HDR/VRR and for it to not be terrible.

What would you recommend, or where would you recommend I start looking?

@mcc if you in the 27”+ range at least consider QHD (1440p) the pixel density of 1080p falls apart at that size and bumping up one notch makes a real difference in cleaning up text and things. I’ve been really happy with https://www.rtings.com/monitor testing and info as a guide to models.

@mcc at the end of the day it all comes down to PPD. https://qasimk.io/screen-ppd/ push it too high and you won’t see it, push it too low and you get those giant CRTs at 480p where you could clearly see the pixels.

All right, fedi. I need your help choosing a cover for my next book.

Ainlay Harrison is a new ghost, who's been accidentally assigned to haunt the wrong house. Getting the mistake rectified meant facing off against the underworld's most feared and hated creation: a customer service chatbot.

@clacksee bookstodon@a.gup.pe icon bookstodon group @lgbtqbookstodon I really like the blue one. The ghost hanging out under the text is a nice touch. Black cover feels like a kids Halloween book.
