The Halls of Arden Vul (OSRIC) Session 30:

Another talky session. We continued our (peaceful) exploration of the Troll Halls, talking to various inhabitants trying to suss out the different local factions and find a way to involve ourselves and gain some influence. Got some leads, but need to poke around more.

We also visited the Troll Market, which seems like a massive upgrade over the goblin equivalent.

The Halls of Arden Vul (OSRIC) Session 28:

We recovered the bodies of two dead party members and bought another teleport back to town from mage Kerbal Khan. We left the henchman to recuperate, but once our half-orc fighter was up it was back into the dungeon.

Trolls had bullied and extorted our goblin kingdom allies in our absence. We knew of a friendly half-troll, so we went to speak with him to get some inside info before our “diplomatic mission” to see the trolls.

It’s kind of fun playing a fresh replacement character in an established adventuring party.

The jaded level 6 guys think nothing of stuffing their mangled dead comrades in a magical sack, accepting a teleport back to town from a metal dragonfly, raising said friends from the dead at the temple, and then going back underground to chat with goblins and trolls.

Meanwhile my level 1 former legionary (who hasn’t seen anything weirder than a goblin) is like “What have I signed up for?!”

Second Dungeon of the Mad Mage session of the year.

This session was mostly clean-up, exploring more of the shrunken castle after already having slain its evil mage owner. Fought a couple Nycoloth fiends, recovered some spell books, and then (lacking any better exit) used Feather Fall to survive the 200’ drop from the castle’s front gate.

Despite having escaped one dungeon, it wasn’t long before we found ourselves in another; we got teleported to Halaster’s vaults.

The first and only time I played the Toon RPG was when I was a freshman in high school, at a sleepover party with a bunch of friends.

It was at an age where everybody is trying to be cool and all grown up, but it was an absolute blast and everybody got really into it.

The Halls of Arden Vul (OSRIC) Session 16:

After evicting the surviving handful of halfling gangsters from their pyramid hideout, we explored our new territory. Apart from some loot, the rooms were mostly trashed, but we managed to befriend our new neighbors: a goblin kingdom opposed to the halflings.

We’re debating how entangled we want to get with these new allies. It’s good to have friends, but they’re hostile to a different group we don’t have any beef with.

Speaking of elves, I occasionally have dealings with this minted lawyer who left his wife for a ballet dancer.

He's this chubby bald guy who wears Cuban heels and she's this 6 foot porcelain-skinned Russian who weighs as much as a laptop and moves through the world with a combination of inhuman grace and radiant aristocratic disgust.

When he introduced me to her my first thought was 'You left your wife to be with Elric?' but she is always my frame of reference for Elves.

@Taskerland Kudos on the turn of phrase here. Yep, definitely sounds like Elric…
