Now on the precipice of success, Sarandos is threatening to create one of the most damaging media conglomerates in the history of motion picture entertainment. The result will be more layoffs in Hollywood, fewer and lower-quality movies in theaters around the world, and at higher prices. The deal, which is motivated first and ...
Not defending this from netflix (fuck any corpo), but shouldn't we do the same with Disney? Or Disney being almost a monopoly is fine for whatever reason?
DO NOT USE THOSE SERVICES! Unless you are in absolute need of quick cash and can't find a better alternative.
I worked for one for a year and it was literally a legal scam.
The rates will be either incredibly bad (because of "no commission") or unbelievably good (because there's a very tiny text saying they'll charge a 20% commission plus a fixed fee.
In italy, shops are forced by law to accept cards, that will surely give you a better exchange rate.
If you absolutely need cash but are not in a hurry, go to a post office. They will give you one of the best rates and charge a very small fee. But they take a day or two to get the money.
If you need it quick, the ATM's that you'll find everywhere will give you a decent rate. Not as good as the post office but certainly better than those exchange windows.
What was a good rate if I may ask? I can talk from 2017 on. Rates in my town are awful (normally, the commission is a 20% either through a fee or through a lower rate that, in the end charges you indirectly), and I know that in other touristic cities, rates are the same or worse.
The ATM's are not the best, but even with their fees, the rate is way better than the windows. Still, the best is to pay directly with card, you won't get a better rate than that.
I have a very simple mindset: hurting others is bad.
That's it. That's all.
But...
I think there is an exception to this: hurting a nazi. By letting a nazi alive, you are endangering other people, as the nazi will hurt others if left free. So even if hurting others is bad, hurting a nazi is in fact good beacuse you prevent damage to innocents. So yeah, hurt a nazi, it's a good thing for you and for others around you.
"You don't need a DEA warrant or a Justice Department subpoena to see the trend: Europe's 90‑plus‑percent dependency on US cloud infrastructure, as former European Commission advisor Cristina Caffarra put it, is a single‑shock‑event security nightmare waiting to rupture the EU's digital stability."
What we actually need is for european companxes to drop the safety checks dependant on google play services and start using the phone checks only so alternative roms can function properly without depending on google.
It can be done and would allow people to more freely develop and adopt alternatives like grapheneos without hassle.
Timmy, if even charging a lower fee, devs prefer steam over your shithole, I'm gonna go ahead and say that maybe there is a reason: your store sucks. Big time.
At 35, Warsh became the youngest ever Fed governor when he joined the central bank in 2006. He served as the central bank’s main liaison to Wall Street during the 2008 financial crisis. The recent federal raid on the home of Washington Post reporter Hannah Natanson isn’t merely an attack by the Trump administration on the free press. It’s also a warning to anyone with a smartphone. ...
I use my finger to unlook the phone, but after 5 attempts, it will always ask for my password. So if I am going to be searched, I can conveniently use the wrong finger 5 times and lock it with password. It won't revert to fingerprint unlocking until I entered the password once.
After that, I have a duress password that will erase everything on the phone except the OS.
If you are at risk in the US, consider getting a refurbished pixel and install grapheneOS. You'll sleep better.
Check grapheneos, after locking, they clear the data from memory. Also, after locking, a timer starts, if I don't unlock my phone before the timer runs out, it auto reboots. Now, I don't live in a country where I need to be worried about being searched, but you can bet if I were in the US, that timer would be no longer than 1 hour. Hell, maybe would set it to 10 minutes, just to be sure.
Sen. Bernie Sanders also demanded “fundamental reforms” to Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection, saying they are “terrorizing” US communities. ...
That's basically same as saying that the nazis were just following orders.
The issues, Bernie, are both who's managing ICE and ICE itself. ICE are terrorists, you can't just say that you will give money to ICE if they remove those two assholes ignoring all the shit each ICE agent has done so far, Bernie.
You'll have to define what do you mean "white male". I am pretty sure I'm not, given that my skin is not pale-white and my hair is black. And like me, so many south europeans are probably much less white than they think.
Imposing Platform Parity Obligations (“PPOs”), that prohibit publishers from selling Products through other distribution channels on better terms than the same Products are available on Steam. The PCR alleges that the PPOs are likely to cause, and have in fact caused, restrictions of competition.
Not sure I'm understanding this but... how do you explain when we find in official retailers such as fanatical or humble same games at lower prices?
Imposing anti-steering provisions to the effect that, if a publisher wants consumers playing its Games distributed on Steam to be able to make in-game purchases, all such purchases must be made using the Steam application programming interface, and therefore Valve’s payment processing service. As a result, the payments are subject to Valve’s commission charges. Such anti-steering provisions leverage Valve’s dominant position in the Game Markets so as to enable it to secure a larger share of the Add-on Content Markets, by preventing or restricting the ability of other distribution channels to supply (including self-supply) Add-on Content for Games distributed on Steam.
This is also something I don't get. I think games like FFXIV which has an online store lets you buy directly from their store (outside steam) their items, if that's the case, how does this part stand its grounds?
Imposing excessive commission charges which amount to an unfair price which is then passed on to consumers.
This I get, but couldn't valve simply say: "Go to epic store if you want lower fees"?
At least for humble store, they essentially sell steam keys. Which at least complicates that argument. So it is not really a different distribution channel and the product is available on steam for that price. Just not on the Steam store.
I get this but, for what I know (I might be wrong tho), steam doesn't get a cut from keys sold externally so they are technically selling them at better conditions elsewhere?
Steam have an effective monopoly here. Even if they have that because all the other platforms are shit. So the argument for just going to another store doesn't really help as that just causes a massive loss in the market share of who you can sell your game to. Plus if you consider the other requirements of if you sell on steam you cannot make your game cheaper via a different distribution method means that you have to eat that feeling and cannot pass it on to customers. Which does not give game Devs much power to negotiate for a lower fee at all.
I know that but that's not really steam's fault? I mean, epic offers lower fees, but they are shit so nobody wants to buy from them; however, that's not really steam's fault. You can't blame steam beacuse the competitors are objectively worse.
EA tried to have a launcher, but they are so bad at it that they've come back to steam. That's... EA's fault for sucking so bad, not steam fault for being more convenient.
And I say this fully understanding that they have a de-facto monopoly; but the reason is not because they have the only product, it's because the rest are much wose.
The EU and India have concluded a landmark free trade agreement that dramatically lowers tariffs and opens both markets to expanded trade, especially in cars, wine, textiles, gems, and pharmaceuticals.
I still don't have time for you, but I managed to find a couple minutes to explain you why:
I don't have time for those who assume a lot of bullshit out of two lines in which nothing of what you said is even implied and then try to lecture others with a patronizing attitude of someone who looks like they're just looking for a fight.
I'm seriously expecting these ICE assholes will kill at least one or two riders (most of them are less than "pure-white") with italian nationality to, soon after, see the assholes in charge justify it somehow.
In the US “sleet” is the term for a winter precipitation that occurs when snow falls through a layer of warm air and melts into water droplets, then re-freezes into ice pellets as it passes through colder air closer to the ground. In many other areas that were part of the British empire that precipitation is called “ice ...
I want to see him try that. The moment he puts his filthy hands on someone else's gold, the dollar will collapse. No ifs, no buts, the moment he tries to steal part of the gold he has stored there, everyone will want their gold back and, while at it, they'll cash any bonds they have.
If you can't trust that country to mantain such important agreements, you can't trust it with anything. He'll bankrupt the country in no time.
Apple is working on a small, wearable AI pin equipped with multiple cameras, a speaker, and microphones, reports The Information. If it actually launches, the AI pin will likely run the new Siri chatbot that Apple plans to unveil in iOS 27.
When this guy decided that, against his enemies (because, remember, we are not his opponents, we are his enemies), everything goes, he lost any legitimity to claim he's being attacked with bigotry.
The turd doesn't get to recieve morally valid attacks anymore because he broke the social contract. He decided that his enemies don't deserve mercy, or, in general, human treatment. And when you go that far as to decide that other people don't deserve human treatment, it means you are not playing by the rules anymore.
That moment is when you said by yourself that everything can be used to attack you. When you decide to stop treating the others as humans, you become non-human. Morality only applies to beings capable of understanding it.
I haven't ever insulted a political opponent (or any opponent in general) for the aspects of them that are not under their control (like aspect and sexuality) because I think we can't reduce ourselves to being without morals.
Then, this guy came. He broke all the rules and decided that anyone outside his circle is not a person anymore. You'll have to excuse me if I attack his with everything I got because I'm fighting for my life against him.
I'm not sure you realize that if this asshole succeeds, nobody will be safe, not even those living outside that shithole. So yeah, when it comes to this administration, what matters is removxng them, anyway we can, because for many, it's a matter of life and death.
You don't make bullies stop with the power of friendship(TM).
Especially when the bully is not a teenager (who we can argue can be somewhat re-educated) but an 80 years old narcissist with imperialist deliriums, desires of becoming a dictator and the biggest military (which, among the things, he said he's ready to send against "enemies" in his own country).
Against this kind of bully, you need to fight for your life. And you don't fight for your life with the power of friendship(TM). You do it by hitting your enemy where it can hurt most, because it's him or us.
We are showing everyone how useless it is so you lose all the money you're putting in that shit hoping you go broke and, maybe, take a window to the floor.
Three hundred and sixty-five days after Donald Trump placed his hand on the Bible and completed an extraordinary return to power, many historians, scholars and experts say his presidency has pushed American democracy to the brink – or beyond it. ...
On the brink? Mate, you are falling off the cliff. You just don't know yet because your brains are still trying to process that a fascist pushed you off that cliff.
But don't worry, you'll notice sooner or later. After all, you'll have to hit the ground after the fall.
Are those gamers the same that whine about FC26 being a copy-paste of FC25 and then proceed to buy it full price?
Or the same whinning about the last COD being ai slop in a review after 358 hours of gameplay?
Or those saying "I won't buy another pokemon game ever after the last shit they released" just to then buy the new shit they make?
A few gamers will boycot, but most of them are going to keep buying everything from their favourite series non-stop because, apparently, they can't live without it.
Sharif is not politically active, but in 2024, some campaigners came to her shop and told her that Trump would be good for business and against the LGBTQ agenda.
“I was immediately hooked,” she said
Well, Sharif, FUCK YOU. You were immediately hooked because he was going to hurt other people.
Sure, let's accept they are indoctrinated. Their indoctrination is basically saying them that hurting others is a good thing as long as they are not from "the good group". And they get "hooked" on that?
Sorry mate, but I am one of those that, if I lived in her country would probably get hurt sooner than her (I'm autistic). If I lived in her country, Sharif would have voted to hurt me and the people like me. And she openly said she "got immediately hooked" on the idea.
Fuck Sharif, vigorously. Because it's on you if you want to be a piece of shit that gets indoctrinated by a "theory" that says, basically, "we'll hurt everyone that's not a MAGA".

Honest question for americans: do you guys use armored doors for your houses?
I'm reading of ICE breaking your doors to enter your houses and I'm here in my house, with an armored door that makes demolishing the wall an easier way to break in my house (and that it's the norm here) and I wonder if you shouldn't be using those or, if you already do, what kind of tools do ICE have to break your doors.
Uh... fires? In italy's houses? Rarely. Our houses are mostly build in concrete, bricks and other non-flammable materials (the old ones are build in stone). So it's rare to see a fire here.
And yes, we do have windows:
If you live in the ground floor, most of them have bars, usually on steel (but sometimes in stone/concrete if the house is really old).
If you don't live in the ground floor, we don't have bars, but the shutters are made of very resistant material so they are not easy to break. Also, windows are usually with double glass (to insulate the house better). They'd have a hard time breaking in a house here.
If a fire happens, you usually enter through a window (the shutters are not usually down) or simply ask a neighbor for a key.
However, if someone here wants to rob a house, they'll try drilling a hole in the wall to enter because they know is the fastest way compared to the rest.
