I’m not sure what the “center” of New York is. The actual geographical center of NYC is a random street in Brooklyn. Central Park is in the middle of Manhattan, and others may think of Times Square or Grand Central Terminal. But for me, the heart of the city is its public library.

Valerian is the only Roman emperor to ever have been taken prisoner by an opposing army, after his entire army of 70,000 men was defeated and captured by the Persians at the Battle of Edessa in 260 AD.

There are Modern Art™ #statues in #Warsaw near Vistula river I discovered earlier this year. They are described as Knights but I am not sure if these characters are even human beings :blobcatjoy:
Kind of "what the hell artist tried to show?!" artifacts. It looked nicely surreal.
In nearby geocaching point description these statues are compared to King's Arthur Knights.

Leshan Giant Buddha, #China! 🪷 Built between 713 and 803 during the Tang Dynasty, it’s the largest and tallest stone Buddha statue in the world and the tallest pre-modern #statue in the world.
Construction was led by #Chinese Buddhist monk Hai Tong, who believed Maitreya Buddha would calm the turbulent waters that plagued the shipping vessels traveling down the #river (and it worked!).
Also a #UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sichuan province.

Sketching new,old and abandoned graves, some pristine, some neglected . A cat ran ahead of me, then stood on top of a flat gravestone, outlined in light, casting a dark shadow.
My interpretation is of this scene at night, with a full moon.

"This is a close-up of a concrete horse sculpture, its head captured in a moment of quiet poise. The horse’s features—mane, ears, eyes, and nostrils—are carved with deliberate detail, though softened by time. The surface is pale, mottled with stains and weathering, as if rain and wind have slowly etched their own story into the stone. Cracks and pitting mark the face and neck, not as damage but as evidence of endurance. The mane is stylized into ridges, like frozen waves or the spine of a mythic creature, each strand rigid and ceremonial.
The eyes are recessed and shadowed, giving the horse a contemplative, almost mournful gaze. Its nostrils flare slightly, as if mid-breath, and the ears tilt forward in alert stillness. The background is dark, which makes the sculpture’s pale, worn surface stand out starkly—like a relic lit by torchlight in a forgotten chamber.
