🚸 Schools out, forever! A collection of abandoned classrooms from around the world - Part 1

When schools close down, these spaces are often left seemingly frozen in time. When the last person leaves, they lock the door and these places fall silent, waiting in limbo for years or decades in some cases.

These images represent various classrooms found during my travels; Japan, USA, Poland & Belgium.

An abandoned classroom features peeling paint, rows of teal desks with wooden tops, and two long chalkboards. The floor is covered in debris, hinting at disuse
An abandoned classroom features worn green-topped desks, maps, blackboards, and skeletal models amidst peeling paint and a damaged ceiling.

MAGA MAN attacks high school GIRL PROTESTING ICE and INSTANTLY REGRETS IT!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzkh8WsdZio

45 yr old Chad Michael Watts of Kyle, TX got out of his truck to attack a teenage girl protesting ICE in front of her high school.

[What kind of man attacks a teenage girl half his size?
A MAGA man.]

The other students worked together to drag Watts off of the female student, punching and kicking him until he gave up and left.

The kids know: We are stronger together.

"State Rep. Erin Zwiener, a Democrat whose district encompasses Buda, said, “Instead of calling for justice against the grown man that assaulted a girl, Governor Abbott is celebrating the arrest of students and calling for the criminal investigation of and teachers,” she said. “He is also threatening the funding of our districts""

"My 4-year-old brings home a two-page class newsletter each week with highlights tied to the , holidays, songs, and things that happened in . The also asks each a question and prints all their answers.

Last week: “What’s something noisy in your house?” The plague of frogs was noisy.

This week: “What’s a treasure or something special in your home?” Most students said jewelry, toys, or coins.

    My daughter Sarah answered, “.”

Friday night, reading the newsletter at the table, I asked her why.

She said, “Because we keep them hidden in the safe and they let us travel if we ever have to leave.”

Sarah is only four and has no idea how true her words are. Her mother’s grandparents didn’t have passports after World War Two and were stateless for years. My grandmother and her siblings escaped Berlin largely because they had the papers necessary to leave and got out in time."

It’s been over a decade since Alaska significantly increased its funding for public education.

Two school districts are now suing the state for what they say is a long-running failure to give students a “sound basic education.”

WATCH: More than 80% of U.S. children attend public schools.

Some of the Education Department’s ultraconservative advisers, led by Secretary Linda McMahon, want to change that.

🚸🏫🇮🇹 This long-abandoned school sits in a small Italian village, empty since the 1960s.

Most rooms are empty or ransacked, but the top-floor classroom makes the detour in the blistering Italian summer heat worthwhile! The spectacular painted ceiling details, cute wooden desks, tiny chairs and retro wall map all make for a fascinating time capsule to explore and photograph.

⛪🩵 The Blue Church stands in a waterfront neighbourhood with an attached schoolhouse. Somewhere on the east coast of the United States 🇺🇸

German settlers founded the parish in the late 1800s, and the church served the area for nearly 120 years. The buildings are now sold and will be converted into commercial and residential use.

Alaska Owns Dozens of Deteriorating Schools. Now It Wants Under-Resourced Districts to Take Them On.

Alaska’s rural school district superintendents are trying to “find the best, most optimal use of very lean resources.” Taking on the state’s unmaintained buildings, they say, will only increase their burden.

In 2024, lawmakers celebrated the largest investment in Idaho’s history to fix its schools. But only a handful will be able to fully address challenges to accessibility.

At least 10 districts reported in 2023 that their bathrooms, gyms and cafeterias weren’t all accessible for students with disabilities, with some unable to get their lunch or attend classes on second floors.
