#Russia and #Iran have signed a $25 billion (over 2 trillion rubles) agreement to build the "Hormoz" nuclear power plant in #Hormozgan province in the south of the republic, the #IRNA agency reported.
The signing of the agreement involved Nasser Mansour Shariflou, a representative of Iran #Hormoz, and Dmitry Shiganov, a representative of JSC Rosatom Energy Projects. It is noted that the power plant will occupy an area of 500 hectares. It will consist of four power units. #nuclearpower
Four reactors at France's Gravelines nuclear plant have been forced to shut down because of a surge of jellyfish that clogged the cooling system. The plant uses water from a canal connected to the North Sea, which has a growing jellyfish population due to warming seas. Gravelines is one of France's largest nuclear facilities. EDF, the plant operator, says that the facility is undamaged but will need to be cleaned.
One of the reasons why you should not listen to the argument: "This new generation of Nuclear Plants are fail safe. We have thought of any unthinkable situation."
Ask your self. Do you prefer war around a windmill or a nuclear plant?
“People obviously are over the ads and just want #election day out of the way and get on with their lives. I get all of that. But you know, we live in the greatest #country in the world. It’s worth #fighting for and #protecting and #defending and that’s what the #debate is about”
“I think #alcohol is the first essential ingredient, I’m sure of that, responsible drinking as well, but NOT WATCHING THE ABC would be a good start.
For the young ones, #listening at home, FORGET THE ABC. And if you do that, you can probably start with a good night.” — #PeterDutton
The survey also found fewer people thought any benefits of #NuclearPower ☢️ outweighed the #risks compared with the previous year.
Even among #people intending to vote #Liberal, support for #nuclear ☢️ power was not overwhelming, with only 53% in favour of the party’s intention to lift the #NationalBan if elected.”
Not the Opposition leader making apologies for asking Canberra to go back to the Office to work, Not the, “I’m going to “sack the Public servants who do the Education👩🏫👨🏫 and Health things ⚕️🧑⚕️👩⚕️” (cite), but this from the Opposition Treasurer. ☢️🛢️
“Well done Angus”.
In an interview with ABC News Breakfast host James Glenday:
TAYLOR “We absolutely not backing down on that, I can assure you, James and we’re not backing down to making sure we drive down prices of electricity.”
GLENDAY asks how exactly the Coalition will pay for it?
TAYLOR “#NuclearPower ☢️ is through to 2050, and it’s substantially lower than the cost of Labor’s policies.”
GLENDAY “It’s hundreds of billions of dollars no matter which way you twist it.”
TAYLOR “Well that’s the #EnergySystem. The energy system much of which is paid for by a combination of the #PrivateSector and #StateGovernments. The piece we will #finance, of course, is the #NuclearGenerators which will deliver a return and that’s how we have modelled it, James.”
Well done Angus, now show me the costings?
With no plan, #Liberal / #LNP make themselves open to critical analysis and thus reverse their decisions when deficiencies are pointed out.
“About 90% of the #nuclear generation capacity the #Coalition proposes to build would not have access to enough water to run safely, according to a report commissioned by #LiberalsAgainstNuclear.
The report authored by Prof. #AndrewCampbell, a visiting fellow at the Australian National University (#ANU) , assessed nuclear energy’s #water needs and the available #supply across the seven sites where the Coalition has proposed new reactors.”
“Well done Angus”
If you remember the member for #Hume is insisting the Federal Government if the #LNP wins election will purchase, run and make a profit using nuclear power.
No mention of locations of power generation sites (I assume existing sites) nor is there any mention of #geological, #enviromental or #NuclearWaste disposal studies.
“Coalition sources on Wednesday told The AFR that while the party would honour the NRF’s existing commitments if elected on May 3, the remaining funds would be put to other uses, including possibly the Coalition’s plans to build seven #NuclearPower plants across the country.
The Coalition will not scrap or exit existing #NRF (National Reconstruction Fund) agreements over fears that would create sovereign risk, whereby investors avoid making investments in Australia due to uncertainty about government decision-making.”
…
“While the Coalition has opposed Labor’s off-budget funds, Dutton has said a future Coalition government would finance its taxpayer-funded nuclear power plants through a similar #investment vehicle.
Modelling by #FrontierEconomics commissioned by the Coalition estimates the opposition’s energy plan would cost $331 billion to 2050, of which the taxpayer-funded construction of #NuclearPlants would be a large component..”
There you go, $331B tax payer funded ‘never never’ nuclear technology ☢️ for power generation. 🤪
“With #NuclearPower ☢️ there is no need carpet our national parks, our prime agricultural land and coastlines with industrial, solar and windfarms, or 28,000 kilometres of transmission lines …
Our #economy has stagnated under the Albanese governments excessive and interference, privatising the agendas of inner-city Green voters, activists and union bosses, as they always do. #Labor has used every tool at their disposal to target sectors critical for our #economies.
It has gone after #miners, small businesses, farmers, fishers and foresters, from Tasmania to Western Australia, and when these #industries suffer, we all suffer. My intention is to make Australia a mining, agricultural and manufacturing powerhouse once again.” — #PeterDutton👷🏻♂️
There you go, that’s the 🥔 policy. Everything is based off #Nuclear ☢️ and it will solve all the problems. No policy, costings, strategic analysis, economic or political discussion.
Question?
This message was delivered in Perth, WA. Who benifits from a new #nuclear uninformed policy?
Day 15 #OpEd reminder of who benefits from #LNP ☢️ policy
Thu 31 Oct, 2024.
“#PeterDutton says his office asked whether billionaire (Oligarch) #GinaRinehart's jet was available for event: #OppositionLeader Peter Dutton has admitted his own error after saying he had never requested access to billionaire mining magnate Gina Rinehart's #PrivateJet in his travels.”
Mr Dutton has previously #declared flights provided by #HancockProspecting, owned by Ms #Rinehart, but on Tuesday said "no" when asked if he had ever personally asked to be flown courtesy of the nation's #richest woman.
“He (#PeterDutton) cites #DataCentres in the US where those #tech companies are having conversations with nuclear power providers:
The beauty of an #investment like #nuclear into the #Hunter region for example is you can attract the data centres which is exactly what is happening in the US. #Apple and #Oracle and #Microsoft, or these #companies are willing to spend tens of billions of dollars but they are only having conversations with #NuclearPower providers.”
