we’re at a rental property for our honeymoon! 🎉🎉🎉 👰♀️👰♀️🐶 🚣♀️🐶🚣♀️ (that’s not the #enshittified part 🤪)
the house has a “smart” (🙄) TV – so far I’ve removed 3 previous still-logged-in Google account profiles, disabled analytics & “data sharing” in three different places, turned off all the Google / Alexa integration bullshit (especially the microphone wake word!), etc., etc. 😩
but at least one profile is still “remembered” somewhere in the settings, since if you open the “set up Google assistant” page (to make sure everything’s turned off), it “helpfully” pre-fills the account box with the email of one of the (obviously-not-really-)deleted accounts
(I’ll probably email that person & let them know that I’ve logged out of their account for them & suggest that maybe they should do that themselves next time they log in to their account on some rando’s TV… 🤪)
and of course, despite us def never logging in to any apps on some rando’s TV & only running stuff on our own laptops connected via HDMI, we still run the risk of the TV snitching on us via totally undisclosed & un-opt-outable #AutomatedContentRecognition (#ACR) tech – this particular TV is a #TCL one, one of the brands named in a new #lawsuit in… ✷checks notes✷ …#Texas (😳 but also 🎉)
Hey, if you had your works in the Anthropic AI lawsuit, double check that you even qualify for the settlement. Because according to the FAQ ANYONE WHO DIDN'T REGISTER WITH THE US COPYRIGHT OFFICE OR HAVE AN ISBN FOR THEIR WORK DOES NOT QUALIFY! So hundreds of us had our work stolen and we get NOTHING for it.

An Alabama construction worker and US citizen who says he was detained twice by immigration agents within just a few weeks has filed a lawsuit in federal court demanding an end to Trump administration workplace raids targeting industries with large immigrant workforces....In a May raid that swept up Venegas, video shot by a co-worker shows him being forced to the ground by immigration agents as he repeatedly insisted he was a US citizen. The lawsuit says the agents targeted workers at the building site who looked Latino, while leaving alone the other workers. Venegas was released after more than an hour, according to the law firm.
Venegas was detained again at another construction site less than a month later.
“It feels like there is nothing I can do to stop immigration agents from arresting me whenever they want,” Leo said in a statement released by the law firm. “I just want to work in peace. The constitution protects my ability to do that.”"

The release is part of a settlement agreement in a lawsuit that news organizations brought against state and local governments. The fight continues to get the Texas Department of Public Safety to release its own records.
When Jeffrey Epstein turned 50 in 2003, Ghislaine Maxwell asked his friends to contribute letters to a special album for him. One of those friends was President Donald Trump, who sent a bawdy image with typewritten text imagining a conversation between the two. It read:
“Voice Over: There must be more to life than having everything.
Donald: Yes, there is, but I won’t tell you what it is.
Jeffrey: Nor will I, since I also know what it is.
Donald: We have certain things in common, Jeffrey.
Jeffrey: Yes, we do, come to think of it.
Donald: Enigmas never age, have you noticed that?
Jeffrey: As a matter of fact, it was clear to me the last time I saw you.
Trump: A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret."
Here's @WSJ's exclusive story. The paper reports that when the Journal asked Trump about the letter, he described it as fake and said he was preparing to file a lawsuit. "I’m gonna sue The Wall Street Journal just like I sued everyone else,” he said.
