How quiet, calm, and peaceful the city seemed, from their perspective out on the water.
They glided by as, one by one, the lights of the buildings turned on. And in the sky on the other side, the light -- the big light of day -- sank gently into the horizon.
The three-day old crescent moon is the brightest object in this twilight image, but to the right and a bit higher is the planet Mars. In the lower right corner, just above a narrow band of clouds and where the sky is transitioning from blue to yellow, is the star Spica.
Note that I boosted the brightness of Spica so that it's easier to see, especially when displayed on cell phone screens.

The crescent moon is easy to see, but earthshine on the rest of the moon's disk is faintly visible. Mars is not too hard to find near the top center of the frame, but Spica is challenging in the lower right corner.

A few bands of dark clouds are in the sky in the lower half of the frame. Some of the cloud bands have red bellies as they catch the light of the twilight sky.
