It's very difficult to defend the concept that a young child could be so evil, that he or she deserves to be eliminated. And any religion that teaches such is well worth abandoning to the trash heap.

Children -- though mischievous -- are innocent, requiring the protection of the entire adult world, not its hostility.

Good morning, my buddies and beauties! Miss Dee Jay here.

This one... I get into religion, specifically Christianity. This one goes into Christian belief, what it means to be a responsible Christian, how this influences art, and how it affected Christian rock performers in the 90s and 00s... eventually leading to some of them walking away from Christianity altogether.

And so, I give you the most recent post of Trans Pirate Radio: "All Your Heart, All Your Soul, All Your Mind."

I realize that Christianity can be triggering for a lot of people, in particular LGBTQ+ folks. If so, at least scroll quickly to the end and listen to the music; it's amazing, and so affirming to the queer community.

Headline: DOJ investigating after protesters disrupt service at St. Paul church where ICE field director is pastor.

Me: An ICE field director is a pastor. A wafer-thin veil of love & kindness over a soul filled with hate, bigotry, and hypocrisy. Christianity in a nutshell.

By Tobi Loftus

Survivors of a secretive Christian sect, under investigation by the FBI, say it is hiding wealth through trusts, blocking access to abuse compensation.

A question for folks

Do you become more closed off if you encounter a person wearing visibly Christian clothing ( eg. an “I love Jesus” T-shirt)?

I found the photo above as an interesting place to start a discussion about the birth of Jesus and how he is viewed in Islam and in Judaism. Anti-Muslim propaganda in the West, especially in the United States, paints a picture of Muslims as intolerant fanatics who threaten Christians with death if they don’t convert. But then there is the photo above… The fact is that in Muslim Iran, Christians are able to celebrate Christmas openly and without interference. I also note that Tehran is still home to one of the oldest Jewish communities in the world. The supposedly intolerant Islamists ain’t killing them either.

I went to Christmas Vigil Mass with my family this evening.

My relationship with Catholicism is best described as “estranged” at this point. That said, not going to Mass isn’t an option in this case - not if any sort of peace is expected among family for the holiday - so I went. I offered my silent protests in attending, though - my skirt was a kilt with a pattern designed to memorialize witches that had been prosecuted and burned in Scotland, and I wore a hairpin designed by a friend - one with meanings the Church would not approve of.

Whenever I go to Church, I notice something that confirms that leaving the church was a good idea. In this case, it was in the prayers offered. So… while the prayers are being offered, the following is said:

“For the oppressed.”

I was mildly surprised and intrigued at this point. What would the Catholic Church have to give for the oppressed? Allyship and advocacy to their cause? Aid? Liberation? Mercy?

“That they may be given the strength to endure.”

🤦‍♀️

What?

Just… what?!?

In that moment, I realized I had chosen my wardrobe well. Praying that oppressed people be given the strength to endure is like praying that those persecuted as witches had the strength to endure the flames.

Oppressed people don’t need your prayers. Oppressed people need action; oppressed people need your help.

As a friend of mine put it, Love is a verb.

And that “prayer” was as far from love as a church could get - literal performative prayer to justify their own indifference.

In 1899 a group of radical Christian pacifists who had broken away from the Russian Orthodox church many years before, known as the Doukhobors, began emigrating to western Canada to escape Tsarist persecution. Under the influence of Leo Tolstoy and the more mystical-visionary pronouncements of their leader back in Russia, an even more radical minority of the group - know as Svobodniki or "Freedomites" - attempted to create a new Eden in western Canada.

The Freedomites in 1902-03 began adopting an often raw Vegan or Fruitrarian diet, releasing their draught animals "to the grace of God" so that they would no longer be dominated by human oppression, destroyed their own property to protest luxury and vanity, rejected the institution of marriage, and began marching naked and engaging in religious communal nudity to be more like Adam and Eve before the Fall.

Rev. Michael Woolf, senior minister of Lake Street Church of Evanston, was shot in the leg with a pepper ball by state police while protesting outside the Broadview ICE facility, Illinois. He writes for Religion News Service about why he continues to show up at Broadview, the atmosphere at protests there, and religious leaders' obligation to resist tyranny. "It is important for my neighbors who were abducted to know that we will not stop fighting for their release," he writes. "By my estimation, our country is somewhere in 1930s Germany. Fascism is growing in power, but we still have opportunities to resist."

Yesterday, Pope Leo posted the statement below (it's from his Dilexi te) on Twitter (aka X), and MAGA went wild plastering the posting with enraged comments. Someone shared this tweet in a Reddit posting devoted to Christianity and enraged MAGA posted so many hateful comments that Reddit took the posting down.

MAGA wants to wrap the cruelty of denying food to children in Jesus. Leo begs to differ.
