I’m struggling to replicate some window behavior I’m used to (from Windows) on a new install. Does anyone have any insight?

I have a bit of a weird setup that I’ve accumulated over the years. In my most recent attempt at breaking into Linux, this was my main barrier. In particular, I use a Corsair keyboard, a Razer Naga X mouse, and a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick. As it turns out, the mouse, and seemingly the other two, aren’t compatible with Linux.

The law firm that I work for is has finally decided that we should embrace Linux.

Noobie linux user here trying to get this app to work with bottles/lutris/whatever but the same error pops up that I can’t figure out. Any help please?

I tried element picker but nothing that looks like an address appeared.

I just started checking out auditd and made a rule to log file accesses.

I installed 22.2 on my laptop, installed waydroid, it failed to launch, so i logged out, selected ubuntu on wayland, and waydroid works in that DE.

Flatpak & GNU Stow problems (solved)

I have found several programs that let me see what hardware I have, but none that manage drivers, allow me to do “custom” stuff to it like … run fans faster, or similar things.

I’m on Nobara Linux (with KDE6) using a dark theme. I’m using Unity Mod Manager on some games, which, with my current configuration has unreadable text on buttons etc because the text color is the same as the button-background.

So I have a MSI laptop that has an issue of draining its battery while turned off. Decided to look in to this problem today.

I’m on Linux Mint 22.2, trying to update Project Zomboid to a beta version, and when Steam gets to the ‘validating’ part of the update it hangs. The content_log.txt file shows the following:

The Cinnamon power management settings on Mint have options to suspend OR lock my ThinkPad when the lid is closed but I can’t seem to find a way to make it do both.

I have installed CachyOS in my main gaming machine and i want it to work like the steam deck: Boot into big picture mode and then you can exit to desktop mode. I went with the desktop image instead of the handheld one because i wanted to use GNOME. I’ve looked at the cachyos-handheld package but it seems its only for KDE systems. I tried to make my own scripts to start the compositor using a one-shot system which i believe is what bazzite does, unfortunately i cant get the steam part to work, as the gnome part does work. If someone can take a look at it and give me a hand i would be extremely grateful.

Internet advice suggests syncthing but recent articles show it was pulled from Android play store. There’s is a fork listed there but is that going away too, who knows

I wanted to move my savegame for Mainframe Defenders from my windows to linux. Unfortunately I was unable to figure out where the game expects the savegame.

I’m thinking about buying a small budget notebook with a touchscreen for university and running a resource friendly Linux distro on it to extend battery life (and also bc windows and Google suck ass). since I’m pretty much out of my depth here: does that make sense at all? are there noob friendly Linux distros available that support touch screen/ flippable notebooks. and if so, would it also make sense to buy a lenovo chromebook rather than a windows 11 based notebook? thanks in advance!

For years, I’ve used a Razor Naga with DPI switching on one of the side buttons, and for years before that, it was a Logitech G600. I’ve just installed Linux for the first time in a while only to realize Razor doesn’t offer support, and Polychromatic doesn’t offer button remapping.

So, what's the deal with NumLock? I have it tuned on in the BIOS and in KDE settings, yet every time I boot up my PC or open the terminal as super user, it is turned off. Any way to deal with this? That happened on Bazzite, Fedora and now Cachy. I have a 100% keyboard and I want to use all 100% of it.

I've noticed that my secondary monitor usually doesn't turn on initially. In order to get it to turn on, I can do a restart after the initial boot and then it will turn on. Any idea what might be causing this or how to fix it? The monitor is hooked up through the laptop's hdmi port.

Hi all, I'm planning to do a clean install of Linux Mint on my laptop and completely remove Windows. I have about 300GB of personal data on the system and only one SSD, so everything is currently stored on that single drive.

I'm trying to generate AppArmor policies to secure my "major/internet-facing" programs. Most of those programs are Flatpaks. Flatpaks already have their own sandboxing mechanism, which uses bwrap and XDG portals. Does AppArmor have any weird interactions with Flatpak, e. g. blocking too much, or blocking too little, or being unable to block anything without rendering the whole program unusable?

My image viewer (Xviewer) is sufficient for converting still images to still Webp by just "Save as...", but Xviewer and Pinta only produce still single-frame webps from animated GIFs.
