Get Involved
There are non-playing ways to be involved with ultimate in NYC!
NYC ultimate is a community, and we rely on each other to help sustain it. There are so many ways to be a part of this community for those who want to do more than play, who want to do things other than play, or who don't play anymore but want to continue to continue to be a part of NYC ultimate. We so greatly appreciate those who give back to the community in this way.
We highly recommend signing up for the DiscNY Newsletter to stay current on happenings in the community! We also post regularly on our socials and in our Slack space. Links to all of these communication options are in the sidebar.
Below are the most regular opportunities for involvement in DiscNY programming. If you want to be involved in ways other than what's listed on this page, please reach out to and we'd be happy to chat with you!
Volunteering
Support our leagues, tournaments, clinics, and more!
DiscNY would be nowhere without our amazing community of volunteers. We rely on them to help us run everything from leagues, to tournaments, to social events, to equity trainings, and more. We're committed to compensating our volunteers for their time in some way, be it discounted registrations, direct financial compensation, or otherwise.
Interested in learning more? Join the DiscNY Slack and subscribe to the volunteer channel! You can also drop us a line at the email address above.
Volunteer opportunities might include:
- Commissioning a DiscNY League or DiscNY Pickup program
- Commissioning or coaching at DiscNY Youth Leagues
- Leading Youth Clinics (or eventually adult clinics)
- Chaperoning for a youth team, Youth Clinic, or Youth League
- Acting as a Tournament Director or Tournament Organizer for a Youth, College, or Club tournament
- Certain coaching opportunities (see below)
Coaching
Become certified to coach a team or lead a program!
Coaches are the backbone of any ultimate team from the youth level to the club level to the professional level. We consider coaches to be some of the most important folks in any ultimate community, because they're shaping the current generation and next generation of frisbee players. We also require all of our coaches to become foundational or certified coaches through USA Ultimate's Coaching Development Program (CDP).
We are committed to supporting and investing in our coaches through training, mentorship, development, and recognition and appreciation for everything our coaches do for our youth athletes and community. Ultimately, we strive to create a network of New York City coaches whose passion for ultimate translates into the growth and development of each and every player in our youth programs.
To that end, we help financially support volunteers and others in the community who want to become foundational or certified coaches!

DiscNY Board
Run to become a member of the DiscNY Board and take a seat in the room where it happens!
All positions on our board are comprised of folks from within our very own community. These are the folks responsible for guiding DiscNY's mission and vision and keep us moving forward. Terms on the board are either one or two years, with the possibility for reelection.
Our board is made up of a president, a secretary, a treasurer, and four at-large members who take on specific roles as they see fit. For more information about the current board, check out the board homepage. You can contact the board at
Board elections for the 2024-2025 term are currently underway! You can check that process out here.
Careers
Get paid to work part- or full-time in ultimate frisbee!
As DiscNY continues to emerge from the financial hits we took during the height of the pandemic, we hope to expand our full- and part-time staff. As opportunities become available, we'll post them here and on our LinkedIn.
