Create single image ads for Classic campaigns in Campaign Manager

Last updated: 2 months ago

Single image ads appear directly in the LinkedIn feed and on the LinkedIn Audience Network. You can create a new single image ad directly in Campaign Manager.

Here's a tip

If you'd like to reuse previously created ads or select from your organic LinkedIn Page posts, you can browse from your existing content instead of creating a new ad.

Step 1: Make sure you have the correct permissions

You must have super admin, content admin, or Sponsored Content poster access on your ad account's Page and creative manager access or higher on your ad account to create a single image ad.

Step 2: Create a campaign

Any ads you create, either from a Page post or in Campaign Manager, must be part of a campaign. Create a new Classic campaign and select brand awareness, website visits, engagement, website conversions, lead generation, or job applicants as the objective. You can also create new ads for an existing single image ad campaign by editing your campaign. Once you have created a campaign, you can create ads.

Step 3: Create a new single image ad

To create a new single image ad:

  1. On the Ads in this campaign page in Campaign Manager, click Create new ad(s).

    Ads review page
  2. Optional: Click the Draft ad button to generate a draft of your ad.

  3. If you choose not to use AI, you can add, review, or edit the following parts of your ad:

    • Introductory text - Enter or change the text in this field to manage what text is displayed above your ad’s image.
    • Headline - Enter or change the text in this field to manage what text is displayed below your ad’s image.
    • Media - Click the dropdown menu to upload an image, use a free Shutterstock image, browse your media library, or remove the image.
    • Call to action – Use the dropdown menu to select from available call-to-action buttons.
    • Destination URL - Enter your URL. URLs must have the http:// or https:// prefix and you can use up to 2,000 characters. After you add the URL, click the Scrape button.
    • Optional: Description – Enter or change the text in this field to add a description. The ad description provides more information to people who see your ad. The ad description will not be visible in most scenarios and only appears for a small portion of LinkedIn members, such as those viewing it on the LinkedIn Audience Network (if enabled).
  4. Optional: Preview how your ad will appear on different devices by clicking the dropdown menu below Preview on the right side of the page.

  5. Optional: Click the Draft more ads button to use AI to draft up to 5 ads to improve the potential performance of your campaign. You can also create more ads by clicking the Create new ad button on the left side of the pop-up window.

When you’re ready, you can launch your new campaign or save changes to an existing campaign. Your ads will be reviewed and, if approved, are displayed based on your campaign settings.
