
Φ-sat 2 (PhiSat 2) []
Φ-sat 2 (PhiSat 2) is an Earth observation 6U CubeSat project from the European Space Agency (ESA) that can run AI applications directly on board. What distinguishes Phi-Sat-2 is its use of the NanoSat MO Framework, a modular and open-source platform developed for small satellite missions.
The NanoSat MO Framework improves the satellite's flexibility and agility by enabling for the effective integration of AI technologies into its operational workflow via onboard Apps. The AI Apps will be capable of performing various tasks such as converting a satellite image to a street map, detecting clouds, recognizing and classifying marine boats, and performing image compression using AI.
