It has in some ways, it's awfully convenient that features that would harm their ability to spread their ideology get neutered or not developed fully. Like making the modlog less useful, neutering the vote system (Lemmy used to have a more robust voting system, until they noticed that it could be used against them) or still not having a proper blocking system in place after 4 years
There's also the "soft" issues, instance admins not wanting to take the step of defederating with .ml when they do so with grad and hex because they depend on support from dessalines and they fear he would be petty and cut off support with them if they dared to do so (which prob would)
PieFed is an alternative platform in the same social media category of Lemmy, "Forum and link aggregator".
It's younger, but is being rapidly developed, esp considering it's written in mostly python instead of Rust.
Biggest benefit though, is it doesn't come with toxic political ideologies attached like Lemmy does (https://lemmy.world/post/29072279)
Also why we're moving to more generic terms like "Threadiverse" instead of "Lemmy-verse"
It's a search engine built for old browsers, searches and proxies pages to strip them down and make modern pages compatible
I think you mean investing, divesting means you'd be getting rid of your MRE and ammo hoard lol
It's such a cop out though IMO, there's no way a super intelligent AI would only be able to come up with just those 2 plans. It could def think of an alternative that would be able to thread the needle.
In fact

Our current dumber than rocks LLM was able to churn out a decent plan, so there's no reason the matrix AI wouldn't be able to do something even better
I work fast thanks to notifications lmao
::: spoiler Why am I cross-posting .ml content?
>
I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don't want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some niche comms.
Some highlights from the link:
"Don't worry guys, the Uyghur Genocide was REALLY just birth control! ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/30580167
"See! nobody died IN Tiananmen Square, just AROUND it, so it doesn't count!!" ~ Davel, .ml admin
https://lemmy.world/post/30673342.ml admin, Nutomics continued transphobia https://lemmy.world/post/29222558
The original transphobic Comment from Nutomic: https://lemmy.world/post/18236068"NK is actually good and anything counter to that is Western propaganda!" ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/31595035
General negative sentiment to other instances who haven't "seen the way" yet ~davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/27426510
"If you don't support Russia then you just don't understand geopolitics" ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/27352415
And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can't even put them all here because this comment would be really long.
I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda
On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like "Lemmy? Isn't that the place with a bunch of tankies?" Or "Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left". The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.

What? How is this not a comic?
woln't be reading about client side validated food from me.
I'll make an attempt to call their security department to disclose a security issue to them, but if they can't hear me through my mouth full of nuggies, that's their problem ¯\(ツ)/¯
I applaud Bob for having the inner fortitude to not just exploit them for infinite nuggies
My literal first thought was "got dammit, why didn't I try that" (I had assumed McD would have rolled out an app with proper server-side validation and never bothered)
I do not have the inner fortitude to not exploit a giant corpo for free nuggies LMAO
Uhh work excel which is fully updated still prompts me about "auto recovered" files (and not OneDrive)
Unless it's MS word specific you mean (I don't use word a whole lot these days lol)
"poorly made" and "meme" can't exist in the same sentence when it's a Futurama base for the meme lol
They dropped the whole USB protocol to USB 2.0, which consequently dropped the video out
The original comment reply to you was all about how the legal system would act, that's the primary concern. All it would take is a Trump loyalist judge, a Trump leaning appeals court and the right-wing Supreme Court and boom suddenly the CFAA covers a whole lot more than what was "logical"
My folks bought a new EV recently and my dad was unable to figure anything out for days. I hopped in and was doing everything he wanted in minutes.
"How the hell did you do all that‽"
"I RTFM Dad"
.ml are Tankies, they reject the notion that Stalin killed millions/sent innocent people to gulags or if he did it was necessary/it was just Nazis (unless that's the joke you're making lol)
Not a bad idea, or a mass register of all certified kid friendly domains regardless of TLD that such filtering software can freely pull from

Unicode is good. If you’re designing a data structure or protocol that has text fields, they should contain Unicode characters encoded in UTF-8. There’s another question, though: “Which Unicode characters?” The answer is “Not all of them, please exclude some.”
