I use dev mode to switch the sensors off. Recently I noticed that after a few days, maybe a week or so, I wasn´t a dev anymore and had to restart dev mode. Does this happen to anybody else? And can I make dev mode permanent again?
Hello, I have two phones, a Note 11 Pro and a Sony Xperia 1 J9110. The first phone is sold in my country, but the second one was never sold here. I bought it secondhand very cheaply. My question is, which phone is better? Which one is better in terms of daily performance and up-to-date features? I will be playing Minecraft and Rainbow Six Mobile.

So I just got a Moto Razr and am going to start setting it up. I’ve been outside of the android ecosystem for a long time. Can I get some recommendations for anything and everything? I recently read the Nova launcher has gotten much worse since I last used it. I’m also not sure if I should do a launcher or just use the base OS. I updated my Pixel 10 Pro with the latest Pixel software (BP4A.260105.004.E1) and noticed that notifications for things like Signal, news alerts, discord, etc. even though the notifications are there when I pull down the notification bar.
The phone gets 0 major Android upgrades though Moto isn’t the only OEM to indulge in these shenanigans. I had personally a phone from little known Techno (popular in South East Asia). Decent hardware for the price but it never went above the Android 12 it shipped with.
I recently bought a pixel tablet that I installed lineageOS with Gapps and I’m looking for a launcher that has home screen like Lawnchair so I can add weather widgets, but have the app list/drawer be similar to Niagara launcher. I looked through fdroid, but couldn’t find one I liked and launchers on the play store tend to pester you to purchase their subscription or a bunch of ads.
I remember the original Syncthing Android app being discontinued and have been putting of dealing with this for way too long.
What is the current consensus? Is there any trusted app on the PlayStore, F-Droid, GitHub, … ?
Have you replaced the old app and if so how?
Knowing how frustrating certificate pinning can be when trying to intercept an app’s traffic, I was really excited by this post about being able to quickly and easily bypass certificate pinning (which was shared here).
Minor gripe: I had find it better if the article elaborated if phones had a SD card slot or not. This phone ships with 128 GB base storage which is a problem if there is no SD card slot but not a big thingy if expandable options are present.
Nothing mistitled their latest vid. Per Carl, the “a” line got much sales and they’ll have a new “a” line this year. They won’t make a 📱 with the 8 elite gen 5 this year. But there was no 4a teaser. He didn’t talk re the specs. Didn’t talk re the design. He didn’t say if there’ll be a 4a pro and a 4a ultra. Most of the vid isn’t re the “a” line. My issue has been the title. Please edit the title. The chapters immediately say the vid is mostly re other stuff –
I love FOSS apps that are made for for everyone to use and help improve lives. But I also love apps that someone clearly made to address a very specific problem that they were solving.
I’m sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but why won’t android just straight up run like Linux distros that almost run on any computer? Why does each model under each manufacturers require separate maintainors seperately? Aren’t they running like almost similar hardware like processors from Qualcomm, mediatek, Exynos, etc? Why hasn’t there been a single android os that is compatible with all the device?
My Zenfone 8 is getting old. I love this smartphone as it runs perfectly smooth despite its age and easily fits in every pocket. However, more and more problems start to pop up. The internet connection is unstable and I need to restart the phone once in a while for the internet to start working again. The battery is really weak. It even struggles to get past the day.
All the other discussions I found on Lemmy dismiss it because they find the idea of a second phone ridiculous. Or because they don’t buy into the “dumb phone” concept.

I’m having trouble with the audio volume in Stardew Valley mobile. With wired headphones, the audio is very loud, but if I’m using Bluetooth (and I’ve tried multiple pairs), the audio in that game sounds as though it’s capped at 50% and it’s not a comfortable experience. My physical volume is at 100% and I’ve checked my Earfun settings to make sure everything is as high as it can go. My old Anker Soundcore earbuds had the same issue, but enabling 3D Audio in their settings seemed to fix it. My Earfun Air Pro 4’s don’t appear to have that option.
Still need to figure out the visualizer, the infinite song name scroll (just loops with return for now), and animating the stars and background (main menu) spinner.
I’m still in the saga of trying to switch to android and hit another roadblock lol. I’m looking for a web browser that implements gesture navigation with linear animations like on iOS. The closest browser I’ve found is opera GX, but the PC/MacOS version of opera runs like shit with 30fps animations for all the UI elements.
So I am trying to get into these OSes like Graphene, Callyx, e OS..etc. If need be, I will try to de Google the phone too. Anyway, I understand that you can install apps using stores like Amazo, Fdroid, Acrescent, Aurora...etc, instead of relying on Google Play Store.

I would respectfully disagree. Samsung already gates features for it's phones and now it is gating features to GW 8 despite there being no new sensor upgrade from previous generation. The Antioxidant Index and Vascular load, is just gated to GW 8 for the heck of it and one is not even sure how accurate it is.

I'm looking for some advice, recently my pixel 6a and a pixel 8a both have the same annoying behaviour, periodically the three bottom buttons stop working or lag to an extreme degree, so the back button, home button and app switcher.

So for a number of unfortunate reasons i found myself without a phone and I needed urgently a new one, so I went to a local shop and bought this Redmi A3.
Got my Minimal Phone about a week ago. It's definitely a niche device, a cross between a e-reader and a smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard. I'll preface this whole "review" by stating that it's not for everyone. For me, though, it's almost perfect as I don't (nor want) to spend all day staring at my phone, doom scrolling, watching video after video, etc. I just need the basics, love e-ink displays and physical keyboards, and this has me covered.
I'm looking for an app that displays the amount of time an app has been used, for the day, on top of the app (i.e. while the app is vein used). Basically a constant reminder of how much time I'm wasting on an app.
I updated my device to Lineahe OS based on Android 15 after I have been using Lineage OS based on Android 14 for a while. I don't know if this is a common issue with Android 15 or it's only with Lineage OS or my installation is sonewhat crippled (I did clean flash and I already reinstalled once), but the OS is very aggressively killing apps compared to Android 14 to the point it is annoying.
This is a relatively old review when the TicWatch was new. This watch easily outperforms the Galaxy Ultra and even Oneplus 2R and musters in 4/5 days of battery life (*looks sadly at my GW 6*).
The playstore is really poorly laid out. I dont know how to leave a review anymore. Every description has the same nonsense first instead of a description. Sometimes you can select the app developer to load their page with all their apps and sometimes you can't. When did it get so bad?
I am greatly displeased at the smartphone industry.
I think it's time for a heavy handed crackdown about all the spying they're doing.
The smartphone industry and in particular the company qualcomm I find an intolerable company in their practice, I believe they should be smashed, their equiment liquidated and their intellectual property destroyed.
