Abstract

Migrant women are still significantly underrepresented as journalists. An intersectional perspective, which analyzes both gender and ethnicity in relation to media production, is still the exception and opens up a wide field for theorization and empirical research. Insights from migration research, gender and diversity studies, and research in journalism are used to explore whether a higher participation of female journalists with a migration background also leads to a different, more diverse media representation of migrants.
