You're right, but I do think the deaths in the death camps make them death camps.

That's the difference between an amateur writer and a professional writer.

optissima ,
@optissima@lemmy.world avatar

We are talking about quality of writing fiction. There's nothing wrong with being an amateur, but being rude when a professional has a higher skill cap than you is just kind of sad. This man has likely honed his craft over 10s of thousands of hours, respect that. You've basically told me that when you see someone just beginning to practice a skill you have honed you can't tell a difference, or you lack the ability to transfer that concept to a skill you are unpracticed in. If you feel that this is still hard to understand, try reading the Eragon series then LotR. Both fun reads, but you can tell that one was written by someone early in their writing carrier vs later.

One of them is confirmed flu, the other is flu-like. Likely it's that RFK has fucked the health admin/funding process enough that the corps don't want to release data that might get them punished and are side stepping it with what amounts to phrasing. At the same time, post covid, these corps are realising that suppressing the data or ignoring it till it got big brought in better money than being preventative.

And you're a coward for not working on creating solidarity amongst them yourself. Way to attack those also oppressed by america. Try building a movement in your own country that doesn't just let it lick the US's feet before you go demanding that others do it in a country that has infinitely more guns pointed against them.

optissima , (edited )
@optissima@lemmy.world avatar

Because that's your only hope to stop your land from being invaded by the American government? Literally a majority of Americans oppose most of Americas actions when given context? You call others cowards but you have no real solutions yourself, your mindset is only a few degrees off from a Nazi think if you paint with such a large brush.

    GrapheneOS being targeted by France

    Donate...

    @everyone GrapheneOS is being heavily targeted by the French state because we provide highly secure devices and won't include backdoors for law enforcement access. They're conflating us with companies selling closed source products using portions of our code. Both French state media and corporate media are publishing many stories attacking the GrapheneOS project based on false and unsubstantiated claims from French law enforcement. They've made a clear threat to seize our servers and arrest our developers if we do not cooperate by adding backdoors. Due to this, we're leaving France and leaving French service providers including OVH. We need substantial help from the community to push back against this across platforms. People malicious towards us are also using it as an opportunity to spread libel/harassment content targeting our team, raid our chat rooms and much more. /e/ and iodéOS are both based in France, and are both actively attacking GrapheneOS. /e/ receives substantial government funding. Both are extremely non-private and secure which is why France is targeting us while those get government funding. We need a lot more help than usual and we're sending our the first ever notification to everyone on the server because this is a particularly bad situation. If people help us, it will enable us to focus more on development again including releasing experimental Pixel 10 releases very soon.

    Man who can afford his life saving meds tells everyone who can't they to survive on will power alone

    optissima ,
    @optissima@lemmy.world avatar

    No I am trying to tell you you're getting sucked into propaganda. There's a reason why even the title claims "high risk:" The forced labor of capitalism is known, the claimed forced labor in China that's been claimed for years now somehow still has no definitive proof and is still "high risk."

    optissima ,
    @optissima@lemmy.world avatar

    "The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act made it U.S. policy to assume that all goods manufactured in Xinjiang are made with forced labor, unless the commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection certifies that certain goods are known to not have been made with forced labor." from the wikipedia page

    So we assume it's forced labor without evidence. Also cool, send a link with proof with those famlies. Certainly they must bring proof, because many have been known to make up wild claims for show.

    optissima ,
    @optissima@lemmy.world avatar

    You had direct interaction? In your kitchen? Can I see it?

    optissima ,
    @optissima@lemmy.world avatar

    I want to believe evidence. "My friend told me but I won't provide that proof" is not evidence and demanding that evidence isn't bad faith.

    optissima ,
    @optissima@lemmy.world avatar

    Look up proving a negative, youll learn it's hard to do, and when opposing evidence is given by China, would you accept it?

    I don't think this is a cheering match or anything. I know that China does do bad things, they certainly arent a perfect country. I oppose all forced labor that has been proven.

    I am asking you (or anyone) for proof of a positive, that this happened. You again don't offer evidence. As soon as you offer definitive proof I will believe you, but until then to me you're just enabling the powers that have oppresed your family, mine, and billions of others.

    Ask yourself why we assume all products there are under forced labor instead of defining forced labor and banning it. If this truly was the issue, why do we only care about it in China?

    optissima ,
    @optissima@lemmy.world avatar

    Is my sick burn is "I want evidence" or "I dont believe in unsourced claims." Maybe your claims are true, can you share them? Is there an interview I can see with those people, the ones you say you have talked to?
