A HK/Mainland co-production with two credited directors, Ho Lin-Chau (THE DEVIL AND THE GHOSTBUSTER) for the HK cut and Hung Fung (actor in LOST SOULS) for the Mainland cut. The HK cut’s English title is Legend of the Crazy Dragon while the Mainland’s is Guangzhou Warrior (not the Taiwanese as HKMDB states). As the original 1982 negative (by Alan Tang’s The Wing-Scope Co.) for this film is lost, another negative from 1988 (which seems to be an English export negative) by Tang’s company In-Gear was used here. Seeing films from this early 80s HK cinema era is decent quality is quite rare and VS did a good job with what they had. Low budget true crime flick produced by Cat III schlockmeister Lau Siu-Kwan (HONG KONG EVA, BODY LOVER), reminiscent of Danny Lee/Magnum true crime films that released around that same time. What’s ironic is that the lead of the film, Lam King-Kong was a Magnum regular who normally played cops (such as in THE UNTOLD STORY) but in this, he plays a killer.
