Yeah, and I understand the sentiment that people don’t want an algorithm on the site picking what they see, but r/all has been that way for a while. Votes have been manipulated to high hell, and while maybe it’s not exactly deciding what you see, it is and always has been 100% deciding what you don’t see.

5·1 day agoI clicked over to their site on the worldwide web and they have a game called Contact. Seems like it’s for nerds, so it’d be right up Lemmy’s collective alley.

182·1 day agoYeah, I can’t stand the game, this bailed it, but I’ve always appreciated their stances, because I agree with them of course. But like you, when someone says hey let’s play cards against humanity, I say let’s not. I can make jokes about people’s races and cancer without the cards, don’t need everyone cramping my style.

3·2 days agoI remove solids, especially vegetable matter, cell walls and all that. But mainly a fork over the garbage, and on some occasions a light rinse.
And I’ve seen every TC video there is. Even made a patron account just to sub to him. But I could never get the desired result from dishwasher dust, and so I’m a pod man, and I’m happy with what I see, and that’s that.
The Seaward was just one of so many good jokes in AD seasons 1-3.

News@lemmy.world•A two-child household must earn $400,000 a year for childcare to be affordable, study says. ‘It’s easy to see why birth rates are falling’
5·2 days agoSo it says you need to make 400k for childcare to be doable. It presumably takes into account the cost of childcare, in addition to other factors.
That being said, I knew folks who quit working to avoid paying for childcare, but it was mainly because spending 30k on childcare when your takehome pay is 35k seemed pointless. I’m not sure I agree with that, though I understand the thought process.

Except they’re the same person. The people who complain most about Microsoft here also go on to add “That’s why I switched to my Linux high horse” nine times out of ten.
Oddly enough, I’m on the opposite side. Popularity ruins good things. I’m probably just bitter and cynical though. And that’s also not to say that there aren’t things with massive popularity that are also good.

12·3 days agoYeah, my vinyl collection is a decoration. The 20TB of storage connected to my PC is where the magic happens.
They hate us cuz they anus?
I remember hanging with a buddy, and our third friend shows up with, lol and behold, three blunts. These were those blunt wraps that we got back in the day, so three gram blunts with all sorts of nasty grape flavored chemicals. I’m trying to remember what they were called.
Anyway, me and first buddy are both like, oh boy, that’s hefty for just three dudes, and the third buddy said something that we would go on to quote for many years: What’s going to happen to you? And so we smoked those blunts, and yeah, we were incredibly baked, but he was right, nothing happened.
That logic does not apply today. You will fall off the earth.
I no longer smoke weed.

Dank Memes@lemmy.world•The shopping cart is the ultimate test of a good person
6·5 days agoHa, definitely unclear. The presumption is it’s a person with a handicap who left it there. I know I’ve seen some older folks leave them at the end of the spaces and so I guess I’m more inclined to let slide someone who perhaps has some infirmity that makes walking difficult.

71·5 days agoYeah, when I walk into the store, I grab them from the handicap spots. It’s the only place where I say “Okay, you get a pass,” when I see carts left, and so I bring em back to the store.
