@pixelfed May I suggest a DM alert icon/number? And please get rid of the ‘View More’, except when the text is really long. I like the new Discover page, but it has only 33 images, showing me the same style of pics. Please make this an endless discovery with very random posts.

We just shipped a fix for the "Preview not available" bug that prevented proper federated previews on Mastodon and other remote servers.

The fix has been deployed to pixelfed.social and pixelfed.art, let us know if you still see this if you are on pixelfed.social or .art

It would be great if @pixelfed could share some kind of roadmap of upcoming improvements. Stories were promised to be released months ago, but it’s still not implemented. It’s fine if it takes longer, but there’s no communication whatsoever on delays, changes and clear vision on where Pixelfed is going.

Custom Filters are now available! 🥳

You can now set keyword filters to blur, warn or hide posts that match, across home + public + hashtag feeds!

These are based on the Mastodon v2 Filters API, and should be compatible with 3rd party apps.

Our official app does not properly handle blur or warn context types, but soon will.

We've built a solid foundation and our team has identified and fixed the reported bugs, and I look forward to expanding our app and continuing to improve stability and reliability.

We are working on a fix for our Instagram Import feature, and don't worry, you will be able to remove all imported posts with a single button and process them again with every post imported.

Imported posts will be public, not unlisted.

Stories are coming to our Pixelfed app, and they are AMAZING!

Not everyone likes them, and they can hide them if they prefer.

But for the rest of us, you will get all the familiar features like Story Reactions, Comments and even who viewed your story/view counts.

    @dansup Thanks for your hard work, but I don’t see much change except double tap. Maybe I was expecting too much? The one thing I noticed is that sending a DM got worse. From pixelfed.social the app crashes when hitting the send button. Everytime. From pixey it works but it’s not received on pixelfed.social.

    Friday I will be working on @loops and getting the webUI and new app version released, while I spend the weekend open sourcing the mobile app and preparing federation support.

    There's a really useful thing on here called a "Fediverse address".

    All accounts on Mastodon, Pixelfed and other Fediverse platforms have a unique address:

    @ username @ server name

    If you paste an account's Fediverse address into the search box on Mastodon, Pixelfed etc, the account's profile page will appear, even if it never showed up in searches before! You can tell people your Fediverse address so they can follow you on here more easily.

    I am keeping pixelfed.social registration open because few other instances can scale this large this fast, and we are working on setting up a new flagship to help lessen the burden.

    It would be pretty ignorant for me to close registrations, and expect the other servers to handle 60K new users a day.

    @FediTips I get this, but some things need to be exactly the same. Like how many characters you can use in the username. It’s different now.
