It's strange how this is quite recognizably an old version of English (bet the pronounciation is way different tho), but to actually understand the meaning of it you pretty much need a full-on translation. Even with the vocabulary provided, the grammar still throws me for a loop.

Thanks for linking! I don't speak a lick of Polish, but it was interesting nontheless. I would have thought these kinds of sweets would contain too much water to burn well, especially if you stack them up like that. Wish he'd shown the residue after it's burned out. Do they burn cleanly, is his oven caked with caramel now? Did some of the "donuts" turn into round, charred bricks?

Man, based on that list, I (and probably most people these days) suck at satisfying / engaging with my primal instincts. Eating lots of food is definitely an instinct, too, but that's a bit of an issue when getting high calourie food is easy and most of us are sitting on our asses all day.

mein Gesicht wenn ich ein gebrauchtes thinkpad kaufe (natuerlich fuer linux) welches schon 300 Ladezyklen hat aber der Akku hat immer noch mehr Kapazitaet hat als neu eigentlich sein soll...

Ein screenshot vom TLP tool welches sagt, dass der Akku vom Laptop schon 295 mal geladen und entladen wurde. Soll Kapazitaet ist 50500, aber wenn voll kann der Akku 51480mWh speichern...

Sind die dann auch wirklich fit? Meine Erfahrung mit "neuen" Handyakkus war, dass die auch ziemlich altern, wenn sie jahrelang in irgendeinem Warenhaus rumliegen - neu produziert werden solche Teile eher nicht. Aber vielleicht ist das bei Denkblöcken anders.

Ich würde diese Aussagen mit Vorsicht genießen. Vielleicht sind sie bei Thinkpads genauer, aber bei meinem HP EliteBook behaupten /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/charge_full_design und charge_full, dass die Zahlen genau gleich sind - da ich das Gerät schon seit über 5 Jahren habe und das Modell nochmal etwa 5 Jahre älter ist, bezweifle ich, dass das stimmt.

Da würde ich eher schauen, wie hoch charge_now (bei dir energy_now) im Verhältnis zu charge_full/energy_full ist, wenn man das Gerät den ganzen Tag am Strom hatte. Bei mir wäre das 86%.

Funktionale Cookies haben ja durchaus legitime Zwecke, die nichts mit Tracking zu tun haben - es ist einfach eine Methode, im Webbrowser Daten zu speichern, damit sie auf der nächsten Unterseite oder nach dem nächsten Neuladen der Seite nicht komplett weg sind.

Aber ja, es wäre cool, wenn die Firmen Tracking-Cookies verwenden würden, um ihr Produkt für Endnutzer zu verbessern, statt damit einfach nur Daten für Werbepartner, Polizei, Geheimdienste und Propagandisten abzusaugen.

I'd pick random amateur athletes of the sport. Gymnastics in particular seems kinda dangerous if you have never trained it somewhat seriously. The gap between mildly talented amateur athletes and world elite athletes should usually still be gigantic.

I still don't understand what difference it makes when the bed is against the wall. "full size" mattresses aren't harder to bend enough for fitted sheets than small mattresses, unless they're also thicker, which AFAIK isn't the norm.

I read that most Japanese houses aren't set up for being warm in winter, i.e. they're often drafty and many (most?) don't even have central heating. Hard to imagine living like that. Plus all the skirts with bare legs you see in manga/anime, including episodes that take place in winter ... I know central Japan doesn't really get that cold, but even 5°C is freezing in clothes like that.

Es ist allerdings recht schwer, Informationen dazu zu finden, wie viele jetzt in den Genuss dieser Institution kommen sollen. Im Experiment waren es ja 2000, die zufällig unter 9000 Bewerbern ausgewählt wurden, und darüber hinaus ist dieses Einkommen zeitlich begrenzt. Das Projekt wird ja auch dann "fortgeführt", wenn weiterhin nur 2000 Leute ausgewählt werden. Kann mir ehrlich gesagt nicht recht vorstellen, dass die irische Regierung jetzt sagt "das lohnt sich, wir klotzen jetzt richtig rein und versorgen 50.000 Künstler". "Grundeinkommen" scheint mir insgesamt nicht recht passend zu sein, "Stipendium" würde es vielleicht eher treffen.

Hat sich die Union da nicht komplett beratungsresistent gezeigt? Sie torpedieren ja auch den Ausbau der Erneuerbaren, haben hunderte Millionen mit dem Ausstieg vom Atomausstieg verbraten, und blockieren aktuell Integrationskurse für Flüchtlinge. Mal ganz davon abgesehen, dass es nach meinem Wissen schon lange erwiesen ist, dass es schlecht für die Wirtschaft ist, wenn die Binnennachfrage fehlt (weil halt trotz Rekordgewinnen große Teile der Bevölkerung arm sind). Oder wie unglaublich teuer der Mangel an Psychotherapeuten und Fachärzten für die Gesellschaft ist ... wobei Vorsorge halt sowieso noch deutlich günstiger wäre als Behandlung.

Mit solchen Argumenten kann man mit Glück gerade noch so eben die SPD überzeugen, aber dafür muss es eben auch Mehrheiten links der CDU geben, die aktuell auf Bundesebene weit entfernt scheinen.

Da die Union blockiert, bräuchten wir wohl erst eine linke Bundesregierung, bis wir die AfD verbieten können. Ich habe auch meine Zweifel, ob das wirklich so viel bringt, es gibt viel zu viele andere rechtsextreme Parteien, auf die rechtsextreme Wähler ausweichen können. Heißt aber nicht, dass ich gegen ein AfD-Verbot bin.

Außerdem, das letzte Mal, dass Rot-Rot-Grün möglich gewesen wäre, wollten SPD und Linke nicht. Nicht sicher, ob sich das bei der nächsten Gelegenheit grundlegend geändert haben wird.

The vote balance makes me pretty disappointed in Lemmy users right now (assuming the downvotes are all from different people, instead of 1-2 people nuking it with their alts). This is actual science, science.org is not known as an anti-vaccine publication, and both the article itself and the title call the side effects "rare". Are these people that deep up their own asses that they will downvote literally anything that's not screaming that every vaccine is good in any and all cases? That's not science, that's just belief in a dogma.
