Like, on one hand you appreciate the urgency. Otoh, I need to ask Democrats if they understand that when you say "this is really bad, like end of democracy/law/civil rights bad" and then "We have to find nonviolent but insistent ways of standing up for democracy and the rule of law” there's a disconnect there.

@mondoweiss I actually met the old Møller guy once, when I sold luxury furniture - he must be the most massively conservative type of person I've ever encountered & I also met our current king & queen. It warms my heart considerably that his company has decided to show this much balls & integrity; they've upped their profile over the past decade or so but I always suspected it was mostly reputation-washing.

If this is still that, at least something useful has come out of it.

Owl in a bowl

The same owl wrapped like a burrito, no longer in its bowl... it is likely being transferred either to or from said bowl. The vet staff is behind the owl, mostly out of frame wearing a red tee bearing the zoo logo.

Its juvenile white fluffy down feathers are much more conspicuous in this picture, making its tiny head poking out from the towel appear grey and floofy. The scale reads 175.59. Presumably the unit is grams. It is not clear if the combined tare weight (of the tea towel and bowl) has been brought into account.

@fanden FWIW så har dette altid været et problem & jeg har aldrig set en endegyldigt effektiv løsning 😝 hvis ellers antistat-børste & korkplade virker (aner jeg ikke om de gør), så kan den statiske ladning vel egentlig reelt kun komme fra dig - har du gulvtæpper? Bærer du meget "statisk" tøj?

Det kan hurtigt blive en sang & dans at høre plader; man kan lægge en antistatisk måtte omkring sit anlæg, røre radiatoren før man sætter en plade på etc. Det er jeg selv for doven til 😂

The thing that encouraged me most about No Kings protests yesterday is how many of them were not what I expected. They looked like, well, protests. There was palpable anger and folks were being disruptive. We're not there yet, but it absolutely seemed like some of that LA energy carried over to at least the blue state No Kings events and man, that's a sight for sore eyes.

I have little faith in the Dem-aligned libs trying to leverage this; but my faith in Americans in general grew yesterday.

Kontoret er på 1. sal, og jeg løber relativt mange gange op og ned i forvejen!

@fanden @kramse Også trackpad + genveje - herhjemme (jeg har også en Wacom, som jeg faktisk bruger af og til, til at digi-male & også lidt til 3D-halløj).

På jobbet har jeg en mus til min lapper; det er en Lenovo Thinkpad, som har verdens absolut værste trackpad, og kører Windows, der jo som bekendt er komplet vanvid re. genveje, så dér er musen helt uundværlig.

@demofox @hakona @Urban_Hermit Note: Capitalism ≠ Market. Those two things have no relation - you can have either without the other.

Note about each:

  • capitalism in pure form destroys not just a free market, but literally everything; it's infinite growth in a finite system + consolidation of ownership until there's nothing left.
  • The market has to be extremely well-regulated; it can't be "free" because that only works with perfect transparency for all participants, which is impossible.

Capitalism = private ownership of the means of production & the value they create.

That's it. Everything else; trade etc., that's different -isms.

Capitalism is about acquiring ownership of ALL the means of production of ANYTHING, which as I said means eventually one entity will own & control everything.

What we're saying is it's a system built to create a specific outcome; consolidation of wealth, which capitalists see as an outcome for them because they're im- or explicitly hoping to be/represent the one entity ending up with total ownership. Also, again, trade, markets etc. isn't capitalism; that's commerce & can happen without capitalism - same goes for property rights; not capitalism.

To them, the worse you can treat someone & get away with it, the more powerful you are.

Imagine having a bicycle with a closed chain guard. One day the chain falls off & you realize it's assembled with tamper-proof screws.
