@Daojoan the more I think about this / look at it. The less I understand about everything in life? These shit heads are being paid by the worlds richest (on paper) “man”. To build a word generator they think is so powerful its going to take away the need for human labour. And they are sleeping in tests on concrete floors just to prove they are worthy of having a job for sometime? Share options make people crazy…

I've written about the false economies of austerity before but here is a corker of an example:

this winter, to save money, frontline NHS staff are having to pay for their covid jabs, at a time when staff absences due to sickness are already too high...

Its a classic bit of costs-based policy making with no appreciation of the resulting (higher) costs.

Ir sums up what's wrong with decision makers myopic obsession with immediate cost(s).

@ChrisMayLA6 amazing. I hope they still have some claps saved up. How did we get from: everyone needs a two stamp covid pass to be allowed basic human rights, to: if you don't want to kill the old people you administer life saving care to, thats on you…

Q. is the next financial crisis approaching?

If so, its likely it will be related to the over-valuing (under-delivery) of any contribution to productivity growth delivered by artificial intelligence.

Share prices are high on the promise of the payback from using AI, while financiers seem to think AI will reduce inflationary pressure with its positive impact on productivity.

But when this fails to materialise, things could go wrong, pretty quickly

@ChrisMayLA6 the question is whether AI is the reason the markets are booming, or if the markets are booming and people are pointing to AI as the reason. While I detest AI and agree markets especially US Tech is WILDLY overvalued, I personally wont move my money out, and I think everyone else is the same…

@ChrisMayLA6 GBP is also uncertain. Perhaps labour will link our new mandatory digital ID cards to our mandatory crypto wallets and have done with it.

PeerTube have updated their official app, you can now sign in with a PeerTube account 🥳

Unfortunately Apple & Google are being crap:

:apple_old_logo: Apple App Store users can only sign in on the built-in server list, Apple won't allow manually adding servers

:google: Google Play users can manually add unlisted servers

:fdroid: F-Droid users get a much wider server list and can add servers manually

You can avoid app store problems by using PeerTube's web app: https://fedi.tips/how-to-install-web-apps-for-mastodon-and-the-fediverse

If you are using Mastodon on a computer, you can use it entirely through your keyboard using "hotkeys". There is a complete list of these keyboard shortcuts here:

You can see this list at any time by pressing Shift + ? (or just ? on some keyboard layouts).

Some of the shortcuts only work with the advanced multicolumn mode (more info about it: https://fedi.tips/how-to-activate-mastodons-tweetdeck-style-advanced-web-interface) but most shortcuts work with single column mode too.
