artists should not be required to jump through the hoops and hurdles of the "content" world if they don't want to. if they don't wanna use social media, put their work on streaming services, etc., they shouldn't have to and we shouldn't be forcing it upon them like it's some magic formula to virality (it rarely works like that). if they want their art to stand alone, it should be able to stand alone

cuz google isn't giving me anything

in the netherlands, there are some radio stations (e.g. 538 and Qmusic) that have video feeds which play music videos in sync with the station, cutting to the studio whenever the presenters talk. do other countries do this too?

went down the rabbit hole myself: RTL2 and fun radio in france also do this

of course, there are TV feeds of radio stations all over the world, but not all of them play music videos. i find it interesting that the tech exists to seamlessly sync them up with the radio

seems to also be common in italy

going down this rabbit hole made me realize just how much more fun european popular music is than american popular music. lots of dancey, poppy, feel-good tunes over there while all we get is traditionalist bullshit

i wonder how many open-source devs have made it their life mission to free¹ proprietary features created by big tech, the way stuart semple frees proprietary colors created by corpos… and anish kapoor

when’s anyone gonna address the war on piracy tho

ericjames OP ,
@ericjames@booping.synth.download avatar

everyone treats piracy as if it's this plague that looms over the entertainment and software industries but like… if folks wanna buy it, they'll buy it. not to mention, is it really stealing if you can't buy it in the first place?

ericjames OP ,
@ericjames@booping.synth.download avatar

this also applies to aspects of remix culture, such as YTP. basically i think progressives and socialists should start advocating for total reform of copyright law, including expanding the definition of fair use. because if we don't, who's gonna stop corpos from abusing it?

i decided today, on a whim
i'd buy a base to color in

new refsheet just dropped

pro tip: don't overlook whatever symbols might be next to marketing text (asterisks, daggers, etc.). it's an indicator that they're trying to hide a caveat that could end up being a dealbreaker
