as much as i shit on gen alpha, there's one aspect of their lives in which i feel bad for them. this can also apply to late gen Z

i fear that us early zoomers might be the last ones to grow up with proper desktop and laptop computers. everyone after us has done and will do most of, if not all their computing on a phone or tablet that most likely runs a significantly neutered and objectively lesser version of desktop OSes

i saw a youtube video once of this father who taught his kids how to pirate, and he said they could navigate three mobile editing apps flawlessly, but had trouble navigating a desktop file system, and apparently they're not the only ones. there are other kids out there in that situation

i know it's not as dire as other things going on in the world but i'd argue this also falls under the "surely we deserve better than this" category. the kids of today must know that they don't have to deal with walled gardens. they must know that there are better and healthier ways to interact with technology. they must know this, and it's up to us to show them
