Kodak is officially selling their own film again for the first time in many years and will be selling directly to photography stores now.

But are there any photography stores left? The one in my town is no more, there are no more "Same Day Service" photo kiosks, the chain stores are gone... The only photo store I know of is a family-owned store 80km from where I live...

Somewhat agree.

I used to spend a lot of time on Twitter, but I'm completely off now.

I used to manage several accounts for local organizations to comment on current events, to invite people to local events, to make announcements for those organizations I participated in. All gone, although some orgs have moved to the Fediverse.

Trivia: I opened my first Twitter account around the same time as my Identi.ca account, circa 2008.

And why "On Twitter" but "In the Fediverse"?

There was an interesting discussion in the SFWA discord and a tangential topic was men and reading.

So I’m curious. Men, of any age. Are you a reader?
I broke it down into
Avid - More than 20 books a year
Sometimes - Less than 20 a year
Don’t read - Self explanatory I hope.

Please share far and wide. 100% not scientific and feel free to reply with genres and any other color commentary you like in the replies.

I would have called myself an avid reader, but I'm sad that I'm nowhere near 20 books a year.

I was constantly reading as a kid. I remember going to the library, taking a book home, finishing it, and going back that same day for another. I worked at a library (AV tech) in my 20s; read a book a night.

Now, I'm still reading constantly, but mostly news and Fedi on my phone. I am reading a book (Ron Deibert's "Chasing Shadows"), but ATM it is closed beside me.

I don't understand this obsession with "growing the economy" in Canada when 50% of all Canadians are $200 away from insolvency. You know, we've been trying to grow the economy for ages, and we have!

The Canadian economy grew 41% under Trudeau. Look how much better off we all are. 🤔

    • 22.9% of Canadians experience food insecurity.
    • Food bank usage up 90% since 2019.
    • Rents have skyrocketed across the country.
    • Our wages have barely kept up with inflation, let alone gone up with this economic growth.

So to the politicians promising economic growth, when will the people experience it?

    > So to the politicians promising economic growth, when will the people experience it?

We are experiencing it. As inflation, unaffordable housing, job losses.

The economic growth is going into the 1%'s pockets. And that 1% includes a good number of politicians, so as far as they're concerned, they've made good on their promise.

Matt Elliott: Doug Ford wants you to focus on bike lanes and beer — and pay no attention to this, his biggest failure ( www.thestar.com )

Ford has really ramped up the showmanship lately, calling for a bike lane witch hunt and making magical announcements about beer, highway tunnels and $200 cheques. Much of it, it seems, is being done in the service of getting us to look away from the reality of how things are going in Ford’s Ontario. ...

I bet my girlfriend that this picture of our cats could get 10 billion boosts on Mastodon.

She said she doesn't believe me. She said there's only 15 million accounts on Mastodon. She said there aren't even 10 billion people on Earth. She said it concerns her that I struggle to comprehend large numbers.

Let's prove her wrong everyone. Boost away and show her just how awesome the Mastodon community is.

I want to give the lowest quality (that's good) thank you to everyone who followed me on Instagram yesterday. I'm not quite at the 10,000 followers mark yet, but I gained over 600 new followers, which blows my mind. You're all genuinely amazing.
