As another European, I don't think it's as bad as it seems. I personally don't think most republicans are fundamentally fascist, more so convinced that Trump is playing 5d chess.
If you where to ask most Republicans if they supported democracy, right of law and freedom for all, they would say that they support it.
However, due to the tribalism of current American politics and the cult of personality around Trump, they aren't seeing how that is being infringed.
Trump is almost 80, and will die eventually. With him will his cult of personality die. Some hardliners will probably latch on to Trump Jr or Vance, but most republicans will probably quietly switch over to supporting some more moderate dumb fuck (think Mitt Romney).
I use mine as a low power server. Whenever I feel like tinkering with a website or something, I can just ssh into it without thinking about electricity usage. Jellyfin and such is also a good usecase

Echo chambers, belief perseverance and the "second belief theory" (I'm not sure it's a real theory). For example most (western) people learn that the US is great and everybody else are terrorists from action movies. Then you learn that the US has done a lot of horrible things. However finally you also learn that the Soviet Union also did a lot of horrible shit, and then you have a nuanced opinion. However some people stick to the second belief, that the US is the great Satan and they know so much more than everyone else that have only learnt from action movies (even if they are on the third belief)

Note that I used Finland is this example. While not perfect, Finland is pretty good at taxing the wealthy (for example Mikko Kodisoja, Supercell founder payed 13,2m€ of his 35,3m€ paycheck as income tax in 2022. Still 20m€ in hand, but another quarter of everything he buys will be taxed as VAT).
Outside the theocratic libertarian hellhole USA, shouting "Tax the rich" isn't really a solve-everything-button.
Not really, for example I recently learned that both property-tax (a yearly tax based on property value) and property-transfer-tax (a one time 3% tax on every property transaction) basically kills speculation on properties.
As a result, houses prices are actually humane (between 50k-300k, depending on age, surroundings, size, etc. To compare, the median income is roughly 45k per year).
Of course there is still a capitalist class, but they are nowhere as parasitic as they are in the US/UK. Though if that is due to the welfare culture or a thought out tax policy I can't say.

Regarding the monopoly, I prefer the Finnish model of strong alcohol (recently increased to around >9-10%) are in the domain of the monopoly (Alko), while beers and weak wines can be bought in stores.
First of all, there's more friction to get stronger liqours. Especially when you don't need as many stores as a whole.
Second of all, it makes it less important to bunker alcohol. If you have a lot of alcohol at home you'll probably drink it.
Yep, factor in that most of your mortgage is in actuality payed to yourself. You actually pay a couple hundred dollars per month to your bank instead of over a thousand to your landlord.
