I'm currently looking for a new OS, coming from KDE neon and I like it, but the fact I have to FUCKING restart because someone decided to push an OS update that broke my previous install, now the OS freezes my whole PC (never did before!) and I have to restart. ...
KDE is a desktop environment, you can install it on almost all distributions and it will look and behave same (yes can use wobly windows and krunner). I do not recommend KDE on Debian12 as its outdated enough that you can't install themes from kde's settings anymore.
Personally I recommend Fedora's KDE Spin, I believe its a distribution that you can install and forget and occasionally check for updates on kde's software center.
There's also arch based distros like cachyos or endeavouros with calamares installer that let you choose desktop environment before install.
hey nerds, I'm getting myself a new personal laptop as a treat, but I very much do not want windows 11 shitting it up. Is there a linux distro with caveman-compatible instructions for installation and use? I want to think about my OS as little as possible while actually using it. ...
I really hope more beginner distros switch to kde from GNOME. When I was first getting into linux and did not know about what a DE was, GNOME put me off from fully switching to linux and themeing it was hell with it not playing nice with qt applications, of course as a newbie i did not know what "qt" or "Gtk" was and did not understand at the time why some applications were not following theme.
while kde default is not pretty it can be anything you want it to look like and its easy to customize and plays nice with gtk applications.
GNOME IS very customizable that you might even be able to make it into a usable desktop.
In a statement, the council rationalized the reduction by stating they wanted to reduce the content load on students in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. On June 1, India cut a slew of foundational topics from tenth grade textbooks, including the periodic table of elements, Darwin's theory of evolution, the Pythagorean theorem, ...
10th grade is mandatory but 90% of students who studied till 10th WILL study 11th and 12th. In 10th grade they WILL learn pythagoras theorem periodic table and evolution, just not as deep into it as it used to.
that's because you didn't even take the effort to read even the index pages. You want to believe what you are already believing. Stop trying to act like you care.
The article says that only students who choose to major in a subject will learn the information’s 11th and 12th grade subject textbooks
Students will learn about pythagoras theorem and some trigonometry and periodic table starting from at least 7th grade. Just not at the advanced level it used to be. Unless they choose Science stream. They will learn what an atom is and very basics about it.
I don’t see how the textbooks themselves will tell me anything on Indian majors, especially textbooks from 10th grade and below
The textbook answers your previous comment. "What’s your source that students who don’t major in math or biology will learn these?"
It is still in the textbook and is taught in school. Source: I have a brother studying in 10th Grade.
Moi? I use currently a NOTE 20 ultra 5g. Probably my second best phone, I only hate the fact it's so massive (I miss being able to use just one hand for my phone) and the mediocre battery life for someone like me that watches a lot of videos. But the S pen is so handy those few times you need it.
Huawei nova 3 was the best one I had, Second best one I had was iPhone 6s plus because it was handed down to my mom from my dad and then handed down to me and i still had software updates and was still smooth compared flagship samsung trash i owned that slowed down after 4 years. I might have put iphone6s as the best if sideloading was easier.
I closed all jellyfin processes and started it again but still shows older web version. I wanted to try the new comic support they added but the old web version is not able to open it.

I actually don't know shit about programming, but I learned to use Linux just by reading manuals, wiki and forums for specific problems. Like everything you will have to put in effort to learn something new, and there are plenty of sources which explains the linux way for beginners. if you have the time for it, it is really fun to read wiki because most times you will discover cool things you could do with linux you didn't even knew you wanted. I did break my linux many times as i was learning to use it but everytime i broke it i learned something new so if you break your linux just take it as a learning experience.

I use both but windows 11 has been generally stable and visual artifact free for me even more than windows 10. Like i have never seen BSOD on 11 yet but on 10 it was regular.
Btw did you tweak it to remove bloat and crapware? Windows will break if you do it even if the bloat removing tool call it stable.

I been playing bedrock with my brother for a week now and it is good, mobs actually feel like a threat now and there are very small details to game. Like swords doing more damage to mobs than axes but when the mob is wet or is raining the axe does more damage.
I do not hate the concept of lemmy and the fediverse, But I'm also not going to pretend that lemmy at its current state isn't a circle jerk. Lemmy needs more diverse groups of people. Like GrammerPolice said above, most people who migrated from reddit were people with very strong stance on their opinions. And there's intense hostility to anything that is even slightly against what they believe in.
'karma' has the same use here just as in reddit imo. it buries your post/comment but it is not as amplified as on reddit only because of the rate of new content made in lemmy. And when the mods get tired of modding in the future they would just bot it based on ... votes.
iirc someone already made a moderation bot for that.
You are the type of people for who I made this post. Just block it and move on. It is perfectly understandable that you do not like the things kanye has said, I don't either. But I still like his music. I know it sounds cliche or cringe, but Kanye's music was the only thing that I enjoyed during my worst times.
this is what i was meaning to say. it does not look nice on the community page when every post is downvoted to oblivion. something the "downvotes don't matter on lemmy" crowd just doesn't understand.
I tried to register on it but when they said they would give further instructions on mail, I did not receive it. Now when I try to create again it shows email and username is taken :\
