    @stephaniepixie It feels bleak. I’m going to protests and contacting my political leaders and doing all the things I’m told I’m supposed to do but things are only getting worse. At the same time I’m going about my life and trying to fend for myself. I feel tired and then I feel guilty for feeling tired. I feel strained and I know I’m not even close to reaching the limit yet.

    @JessTheUnstill I get it on my feed too but offline a lot of people in my in my life see what’s going on but don’t want to speak up because of this notion that religion needs to be respected even when there’s nothing there that deserves respect. I’ve had a difficult time breaking people out of that mindset.

    Apparently I'm still struggling with having kindness in my life sometimes. Over the decades, I got way too used to feeling unworthy of love, and that's a hard thing to unlearn.

    So this is my PSA: you are lovable and you do deserve kindness in your life*. And even (typically) cheery-looking folx like me struggle with shitty intrusive thoughts. You're not alone, it gets better, have a hug sandwich 🫂❤️‍🩹🫂.

    @arstechnica That’s just one form of bribery that’s legal in the United States. For it to be illegal somone at CNN would have to hand Trump a bag of cash and say "this is for a quid pro quo," and even then I’m not sure it would it would get to the point where anyone is criminally charged.

    My 26 y/o daughter finally got to see a psychiatrist. This was an online video call appointment.

    She asked about possibly being Autistic, given that she scored within the range on several psychometric tests. He said "you make good eye contact and speak well so you're not Autistic"

    I can't even wrap my head around that statement. I mean, completely disregarding the fact that "makes eye contact" is not a reliable indicator because of masking... how do you assess eye contact on a fucking VIDEO CALL?

    On the plus side, she did finally get diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed meds, and those are already having a positive impact.

    Still, though, I can't get over the sheer idiocy of that statement.

    That’s messed up. In my own experience I mask by making eye contact, but not too much eye contact because too much can unnerve people too. And not all autistic people have issues with eye contact. That psychiatrist needs to educate themselves.

    @eniko What really gets me are commentators on the left railing against corporate social media while in the same breath announcing they’ve moved to Bluesky with no mention of the Fediverse. They get so close to getting It’s frustrating!

    Just as an aside my phone automatically capitalizes Bluesky but still won’t recognize Frdiverse as a word which says a lot to me.
