The "V" Files.

I'm starting a thread for all-things-Vance-hates-4th-Amendment here.

Here's a fun video to get you started. I'm putting other links in comments below, as I get to them.

"Vance: ICE Going House to House, F*** The 4th Amendment"

What are US forces doing flying over the Caribbean Sea??? It's south of the Gulf of Mexico. There is no way that those boats are on their way to the US at all. They're so dinky, I don't see how they would stand up to things like Hurricane Melissa. Even in calmer weather, I don't see how they would include all the supplies needed for such a long journey to go that far. They're obviously just fishing boats.

HIDE. RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

If that's ALL that matters to you? Hide. They will kill the tall poppies first.

But if you're serious about stopping fascism, let's be clear - fascists in control of a police state (actually the most sophisticated and comprehensive police state in human history) don't surrender peacefully.

I didn't MAKE THIS you fucking morons; it's just HOW IT FUCKING IS.

JustRosy ,
@JustRosy@universeodon.com avatar

@AnarchoNinaWrites Voting matters more. Just so you know that. Can't vote when you're in prison, in the hospital, or dead. BTW, these protests might be inspiring, but they don't actually make change at all. This isn't the 1960s. Politicians these days don't give a damn. It's just a lot of people wearing themselves out with nothing to show for it at the end of the day.

Now, use the protests to get out the vote and actually organize people while they're at the protests, and then I'll shut up about the futility of jumping around and waving signs so hard that no one can read them anyway.

Gold mining has done devastating damage to our environment

To get one gold ring you must poison 20 tons of soil and water

What does this say about a civilization that loves gold so much?

It was usually men who were allowed to be the designers and tailors. It was a male dominated industry. She might have gotten a little input here and there, because of her station, however, even then, a Queen still had to answer to whoever she was married to most of the time (depending on her marital status and who inherited the throne, etc). I'm pretty sure that the absent-minded professor archetype was based on people like me. Autistic and ADHD as a mofo. Hard things are easy and easy things are hard. I can do difficult math in my head and instantly visualize solutions to really hard technical problems, but I struggle to hold to a routine, focus on what I'm doing, remember what I did yesterday, manage self-care, or hold a conversation without 20 tangents. I regularly forget what I'm saying mid-sentence. Cool ideas and deep insights boil out of me at a ridiculous pace, but I struggle to manage day to day life. My laptop is the digital equivalent of the nutty steam punk inventor's messy lab in the movies, with half-completed projects lying around in disarray, the occasional amazing gadget that later saves the day hidden and forgotten amongst them.

IQ tests are only about memory and pattern recognition anyway. They don't measure a person's social or communication skills. That, and they're completely unstable. I've had two, and the numbers were both wildly different, and neither actually reflected where I probably am at with these things on an average day anyway. Either I'm a "genius" or a "dunce" according to them. So, yeah. I think I'm probably just somewhere in the middle, like most other people.

If a person is severely intellectually challenged, it's usually not hard to tell. If they're incredibly gifted in some area, it's usually not hard to notice that either. The rest? We're all average with different strengths and weaknesses in varied areas, and that's usually pretty obvious too.

There's not much purpose to it, other than for people to have some stupid score number to either brag about or hide. I think the whole concept is stupid.

For the past several months, about 2-5 emails per day have arrived from people bitching about being banned from an illegal movie and network streaming service. I soon learned that all of this service's various domain names include my email address as the point of contact. So when people invariably get banned for spamming the chat box on this unlicensed tv streaming service, they bitch to me and plead to be let back on the service.

Last month I yelled at their Twitter account, which yelled back that they don't run the site blah blah. Just for background: I dislike spam and spammers so much that I wrote a whole book about them. And at this point I was getting so annoyed by the constant wayward emails that I started researching the accounts and things promoting these PPV networks. For a while there I was like, No Mercy! Fear does not exist in this dojo, does it?!? I was even beginning to form a plan to auto-respond to these annoying messages with a vague promise to reinstate them if they could show proof of a donation to a local shelter or something.
