His silhouette is all over Managua. That's THE famous pic of him, the curve of the hat is what makes it so recognizable to me. We should mention he is famous as an anti-imperialist not as a communist was known to be very short (often called bajito). And now the Sandino name's been tarnished by the Sandinistas co-opting his name long after his death and then changing their own ideology a number of times. Sandino himself had a vision of a unified Central America (I believe it was mostly southern CA, Guatemala, Honduras, costa rica etc).

Did they build this snowman in a roadway? If so, he has a case but "could've" (should've) avoided the obstacle... If the snowman was not built in a roadway: gtfo

I would never say YOU HAVE GOT MAIL without the contracion, I would say "you have mail", and with the contraction in the shorter sentence it sounds British to say: "you've mail"

The First 4 references at the top, are followers of John the Baptist who got bounced from their [Jewish] community for following Jesus. The bottom group "first & second John" is actually a dude named John.

I can't think of a politician Jesus whipped. What's that referencing? Closest thing that comes to mind is the temple moneychangers...

How is the Grinch anti-capitalist? Small-hearted Grinch hoards all the presents but his goal is to make others sad/not sing, iirc. And after his heart-soze increase he is more generous and contrite... but is either of those behaviors anti-capitalist?

If we stretch and pretend the Grinch returning stolen property is "generous sharing" and that's anti-capitalist then we'd probably have to rethink Santa too (even tho often used as a prop in commercials).

Watch Gianmarco new special it was everything you've been missing. "Thief of joy" it's so clearly a new era in dark comedy, and thank God it's not like the old days.

Define edible

Jhogenbaum ,
@Jhogenbaum@leminal.space avatar

That's Exactly why I ask! Lol, under that definition you just proposed (doesn't quickly make sick) rocks or slow acting poisons are edible. Derive nutrition? Won't kill you? But another train of logic might be "is able to be chewed/digested by body - in which case poisons are edible - once.

Only thing I see is that it says it is an 800 bed house

If You Have Choice then Which part would you choose to be born in?

You can choose which part you want, however where exactly is random based on the birth rate (if a region has a higher birth rate it is more likely that you are born there). What part would you choose and why?

"If You Have Choice then Which part would you choose to be born in?" Below a picture of the world divided into sections labeled A to K

What pic are they referencing?

Jhogenbaum ,
@Jhogenbaum@leminal.space avatar

Yep! Our family said this exact same words and translated our CV into Spanish and German. My wife was depressed at first that her fifteen years of working in academia and research all comes to this simple idea. There is clearly no future here.

The institute she is at did not take on a single PhD candidate this year (for the first time in its history)... Meaning some PhDs will graduate this year and next year etc - but in four or five (or seven, lol) years the real impact of that decision will hit.
