My random thought of the day: do folks who do have a plan for getting those hard-to-see areas checked for suspicious moles?

On a related note, are there any on Fediverse? I’ve got a great idea for you.

@scottmiller42 I think someone was using their "out loud" voice when they should have been using their "quiet voice."

Anonymously threatening a security researcher seems like a shooting-yourself-in-the-dick level bad decision. Kudos to Allison Nixon for not taking any shit.

Hey remember a couple of weeks ago when I said my favorite exercise at the gym was the shoulder shrug? I was shrugging 240 lbs. Well last week I added another 90 lbs to the machine. Now I'm shrugging like a bodybuilder.

Still bothered by things though. This month in particular. Everything is fucked. The Democrats caved, Secretary Brainworm is destroying the CDC, Trump is under the spell of Putin, and now he's chopping down the trees, digging up the ground, and turning the White House into Isengard.

This is all I could think of - something we passed around at work years ago when someone asked for anything and was told nope.

Until this morning's walk, I'd never seen a coyote up close. Neither had our German Shepherd, apparently, who clearly could have caught the coyote if she wanted to. Instead she seemed to nip at its heels between barks for nearly half a mile before it ducked into a hole between a huge rock formation. When I finally caught up w/ her, I was relieved to find she hadn't tried to go in but was just barking her head off outside. Also relieved there were no other coyotes around to even the fight.

I haven't been that scared since we encountered a huge black bear and she chased it straight up a tree.

@briankrebs My experience in SF Bay area - A single coyote is not a big deal, they will avoid medium size (50+ lbs), dog with owner, too risky. The problem is coyotes often run in small packs of 2-4 and one coyote lures the dog out and the other coyotes surround the dog and kill it. Has happened quite a few times here. Many of my fellow hikers have lost dogs or made trips to the vet as a result.

Small dogs are snacks and will be eaten and should not be off leash and even the backyard is a risk. Neighbor's smaller dog was killed last year when a coyote jumped the fence.

Now your bear encounter - that is scary.

    My favorite(?) line:
"Notably, newer models exhibited significantly greater inaccuracies in generalization than earlier versions"

My translation - this crap is getting crappier. So much for "Give us more data and AI will get better!"
