I am exceedingly proud to say I always opposed the war on terror and the war in Iraq, and I was right. In the fall of 2001 I had people threatening me for refusing to stand for the anthem at the Mizzou/Texas game, but even then, it was clear where the US was going and I was ashamed of the university's failure to address discrimination against Muslim students in the wake of 9/11. (I forget the exact number, but I'm pretty sure it was 47 who ended up leaving campus for good.)

And partly why I hate Democrats so much is that, not only did they go along with the Iraq War, but they had all the power they needed to punish Republicans for creating an illegal war, and all they did was stand to the side and let Dubya and his cronies revise history.

Yup, I can't trust politicians who claim to be progressive until they obtain power and start doing the things they promise, like how Mamdani is doing. Until then, everyone is a wolf in sheep's clothing, like Barack Obama.

There are some races where being progressive actually works against the candidate (like Graham Platner for instance) and it's easier for me to trust those folks' authenticity, but I generally assume everyone's a Fetterman until proven innocent.

The US, historically, isn't particularly good at holding people accountable. I would like to think that we'll go full post-WWII France and prosecute (and hang) tens of thousands of these bastards, but more likely we'll get a conciliatory Obama type who says some dumb shit like: "We need to move on as a country," and moving on means letting the American Nazis go, just like how no one involved in engineering the illegal invasion of Iraq and the fake WMD's ever got meaningfully held accountable. (And one was awarded a Medal of Freedom.)

Any time I hear about Benji calling for an emergency meeting with Donald Trump, I just assume that he's going to make a demand and remind Donald that he has all the videos, all the photos, and all the material that Epstein used to manipulate him in the past.

In this case it's a demand for a full-scale war with Iran, but one of the few good things about Donald is his reticence to embroil the US in a protracted war that would invariably be exceedingly unpopular. Sure, the US would probably get a lot of bombs off and kill tens of thousands of Iranians, but it's hard to imagine that they'd truly "win" a war where our opponent can completely destabilize global energy markets.

And good on Iran for telling US diplomats outright that if they bomb Iran again, then negotiations are off and it's war.

Here in Kansas City our streetcar extension opened in October, and it's been a massive success. Millions of riders, and it's clean, frequent, and almost always full.
