Hello friends. I need work. A. to survive and fight, B. to make space for more art in the face of our dystopian present. I'd be amped if that work came in the form of music, sound design, sonic art and activism.
My wheelhouse is dark and dirty electronic for my personal work but I am an ex-pro who can remix damn near anything and can bend sound design to sonically fit cool projects. I have references. Some friends here on the feed might like to chime in to help my case?
I am available for donate what you can commissions for game assets, remixes, loops and beats, soundtracks, media tech support?. Keen to hear your ideas.
Would you care to check out some dark dance, industrial, synthpop, powernoise, horror and dystopian soundtracks? This is a great time to donate anything at all, if you can, for my always free to download open catalogue [did you see my recent covers album release?] which thanks to your help is growing and hopefully much more this year.
If you are in a decent place and might like to just send a few bones my way. This helps plan my year to not just be more productive and active with my own music outputs but also able to do collaborations, remixes for others, and my general backstage artist support and activism for the bard class.
Whatever platform you can tolerate using, I'll add to the kofi progress bar. I know there are many pressing and apex issues pushing us all for time and resource, so I really appreciate anyone that wants to help us go down with a good angry cathartic stomp. I am lucky to have a secure home but as I've shared in the past, I cannot work in public spaces so I subsistence farm and universe willing, make noise with my friends.
I hope to see you at this years web concerts and in the feed.
So, I'm going to participate in City26 - or, designing a city over the course of the year. Link 1 below is the core. But that's way overambitious for the total restructuring my life is undergoing.
So, Link 2 - from Playful Void, is more manageable, and should be doable. Hopefully. The only set bit right now, is its going to be an arid city. Desert or Steppe, and trade heavy..
The main game mechanic is a simple card challenge, adding enough points to beat a threshold.
Where many players are naturally inclined to start developing characters attributes, spending time learning, exercising, etc - it's not what gets you cards.
Forming memories with your community members does.
I find that one of the most #solarpunk usages of emergent narrative in game mechanics :)
Well… it’s a first draft. It’s a mess. It’s all over the place. It contradicts itself. It’s honestly pretty awful.
Anybody want to take a look and give some constructive (and ideally instructive) feedback?
DM me your email and I’ll send you a PDF.
Thanks!
Edit: It's a side-quest, the story of a town who can suddenly hear a narrator telling their stories. Starts off light and funny, quirky, but turns a little darker as the story progresses.
Y'know, Stubborn Defiance really should top up your health as if it had been triggered whenever you end a fight with SD unused and less health than it would have given you to deliberately let the last enemy "kill" you to get health back.
It's like old tactics games that didn't let you cast heals out of combat so you just had to leave one enemy alive while you heal up. The optimal playstyle becomes tedious because of the game's design.
this is an idea I've had kicking around in my head for a while. when furry characters interact online or at meetups, there's a sort of "implied multiverse" there, right? we all come from different settings with different cosmos and magic and such, but we generally agree to honor whatever weird rules the other characters are playing by.
so, YCH is a game set in that implied universe. I specifically want it to be possible to put any character onto a card, and have a small collection of cards work as a "team", so that you can trade characters with a few people at a con and quickly get a game going.
today I was rambling about this in Tynach's dms and I realized that there's a perfectly good setting for this game, a setting where:
I love the documentaries that /noclip make. They're full of interesting interviews, fascinating information, and are really engaging even when I haven't played the game.
Here's the latest one, about the excellent "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle" and how a studio that generally made shooters like Wolfenstein managed to create a fun adventure game with very little shooting and great 80s Indiana Jones atmosphere. https://youtu.be/FsxTQvo5QhM #gameDesign#indianaJones#noclip
Hello, Fediverse. You can call me Yan.
I'm a systems designer, recently escaped from the algorithm-driven hellscapes of Reddit & the bird site. Looking for actual conversations.
My obsession is #gamedesign & #AI - where elegant gameplay loops meet emergent AI behavior. I believe in System Shock over The Last of Us.
Other interests: Black humor, honest engineering, fighting mediocrity.
Looking for my tribe. #introduction#gamedev#ai#systemsdesign
