Family of 5, electricity bill…🥶

Induction, electric oven, a bit of home lab and a gaming pc.

We also run dishwasher and washing machine more than once a day… Kids…😂

At least my power meters in are actually quite accurate…🥹🤡

@stux that would put us around €160-170. Not that bad but still expensive for what we earn in Poland…

That doesn’t account for hot water and heating. It’s an apartment and we have it from the city network. Doing that with electricity would kill us…

I’m also trying to be conservative with my gaming pc, putting it to sleep, but it’s still a considerable chunk of the bill, which my wife absolutely hates and we argue about it all the time…😂

@stux I’d not want to go there for the best part of last 20 years, to be honest. Expensive, obnoxious and starting to look like a 3rd world country in most of its parts.

  1. Pamiętajcie, że to był Izraelski startup. Warto brać pod uwagę, jeśli ktoś się martwi o cyberbezpieczeństwo albo sytuację w Palestynie.

  2. Ostatecznie kupiło ich Google, więc wszystkie dane, które im dajecie używając ich aplikacji, ostatecznie lądują wiecie gdzie…😅

Proszę o uzasadnienie, żebym mógł się czegoś nauczyć na przyszłość i już nie zadawać podobnych pytań w przyszłości.

@chlopmarcin Zagłosowałem, żeby zaktualizować z repo Mozilli, ale tak naprawdę, jakby można było, to wybrałbym opcję aktualizacji systemu…😅

Wiem, że czasami jak działa to lepiej nie ruszać, ale Bookworm to już się robi muzeum wolnego oprogramowania powoli…😳

Widzę, że wytwarza kolejne gówno…

Zamówiłem przesyłkę. Do wyboru były tylko opcje Allegro i prawie w ogóle nie ma . Allegro poinformowało mnie, że paczka jedzie z , ale do śledzenia przesyłki mam tylko jakiś numer od Allegro, a nie DHL i śledzić to ja ją mogę, owszem - ale tylko na Allegro…🤣

Mój agregator śledzenia przesyłek, - nie rozpoznaje w ogóle numeru śledzenia…🙄

@evacide Not a surprise, really… We have an LG TV with a nice OLED panel, but I had to cut it off the Internet, because it was pinging home every second and displaying shitload of adds and even installing apps on its own…

Now, I have slashed it on dns and firewall, but that makes menus laggy and/or malfunctioning…
Not really a problem, because we use it just as a display, but still - it is the future we will be getting. Next step, you won’t be able not to see the ads…

@stux Oh no… It actually went much deeper. I had an Amiga 600 and it wasn’t just „making sound”. You could tell the game is loading OK by the sound made by the floppy disk drive…😅

Czytam, że mostek na niebo rzekomo wycieka profile użytkowników fedi niemostkujących ale oznaczonych w wpisach idących mostkiem.

Sprawdziłem na swoich altach: oznaczone konto niby wygląda jak link do konta na Bluesky (albo mostkującego), ale to link do strony internetowej. Otworzy ci profil ale na instancji Mastodona.

Nie ma WMI żadnego wycieku profili a jedynie użytkownicy zmyleni interfejsem.

Generalnie sroce spod ogona chyba nie wypadłem, ale spojrzałem kiedyś na to może raz i sobie szybko odpuściłem…🤷🏻‍♂️

As it is sometimes annoying, it is also satisfying and experience!

I remember I once had to rehost an Active Directory partition (LDAP, not filesystem) in a multi-domain forest because it got corrupted and stopped replicating to other subdomains. And since we are manufacturing company, I could not do anything simple but intrusive…

I ended up doing it by hand, server by server (on 100 servers). Took me 3 days, with ~1h nap time every 24h…😂😅

@stux Whatever shady thing you might suspect them for, it’s not unsafe to assume they are probably doing it.

I’d just cut it on my gateway altogether, but it will most likely mean an argument with my wife…😔

One time, her Instagram stopped working and she started complaining about it. I have then discovered I’m causing it by blocking QUIC traffic…

I did it because I don’t think there is a way to inspect QUIC, a big blob shady companies are hiding behind…

@stux Today you can safely assume everything is lined up with bad intentions. No exceptions. I’ve some pretty gnarly stuff, including gore images embedded as just flickering frames in kids videos. No way to catch it on a brier skimming… It’s just better to keep the kids offline…😔

The times the Internet was educational and actually useful is far gone…

By the time you're 35, you should have successfully done following at least once:

  1. rm -rf / on your unix or linux box
  2. Reboot production server by mistake
  3. Drop CPU/hard disk and damage it permanently
  4. Changing firewall rule instantly blocked you out
  5. No backup was made/verified ever...
  6. Delete source code before actually committing to source control
  7. Run a SQL update/delete with wrong where clause

Lots of buzz + excitement about a new espresso machine called the Meraki. Yup, looks interesting and has innovations.

But we won't cover it on CoffeeGeek until it is an actual shipping, regularly available machine, out of responsibility to our readers. Right now, it's just a crowdfunded project.

In the past, we enthusiastically covered crowd funded machines. And our readership took huge financial hits on failed ones as a result. ZPM. La Fenice. Others.

I wore a lot of guilt for steering hundreds, if not thousands of people towards those projects, only for them to lose hundreds, and thousands of dollars.

So I don't cover or write about crowd funded projects any longer. I wait until the products are actually being built, actually being sold, and actually being shipped.

@coffeegeek We own an espresso machine, aeropress and Hario pour over. They’re all fine. But when in distress, the auto drip is the fastest and the easiest and we love our MoccaMaster. Aeropress never really grew on me, it’s finicky (paper or fellow metal filter) and it’s not even close to neither espresso nor pour over…🙈
