They mostly hit population centers, but "Israel bad" so let's just turn off our critical thinking on this one.

I like how all these posts are by people who have never lived under a socialist regime and have no idea what it really feels like (not great). Is it the West's fault that socialist nations repressed freedom of speech? And don't get me started on things like LBGT rights in the USSR.

Not saying there are no problems in the west, but ya'll just a bunch of commie cosplayers.

slimarev92 ,

The fact you can cosplay as Che Guevara on lemmy shows your speech is not being repressed by corporations or anyone else. You seriously have no concept of how restricted speech was in the Soviet Union or other communist countries.

slimarev92 ,

Also there's no EV mandate.

slimarev92 ,

Good. That's what hotels are for.

slimarev92 ,

The top one is not that bad. A lot of places look much worse.

slimarev92 ,

Getting married in 2024 is kibda dumb anyway?

Ads are bad (I agree).

Paying for things is bad.

Then what's left? YouTube should somehow be ad free and free of cost for the user forever and ever? Who's gonna pay for the enormous costs of operating the service?

People are going to start yelling at me about capitalism and enshitiffication. Both of which cause problems, but what do you propose here? Magic?

slimarev92 ,

How is YouTube getting crappier for me as a paying customer? I feel like it hasn't really changed in years.

slimarev92 ,

Name one complaint, other than blocking people with ad blockers. How has the actual product changed?

slimarev92 ,

Not very stunning tbh.

slimarev92 ,

Why are you teasing me like this? He didn't upload anything.

slimarev92 ,

How is it misleading?

slimarev92 ,

This story keeps appearing again and again in various forms since 2016. Unfortunately, many people don't care at all.

slimarev92 ,

The day MS Office comes to linux (never?) normal people will definitely start using it (or their employers will force them to use it at work).

slimarev92 ,

I'm not at all supportive of Israel, but are you really defending Hezbollah bombing civilian targets almost exclusively - the very thing you (mostly rightfully) accuse Israel of doing?

slimarev92 ,

Where did I say I support a full scale invasion or an invasion of any kind (I don't)? Also the attacks are not sporadic. We're talking about daily rocket attacks on the entire northern region of Israel (mostly targeting population centers, not military targets).

slimarev92 ,

I didn't know I need to be so performative 🙄

slimarev92 ,

Do you share every single belief you hold in every single social media post? You lemmy leftists ate so weird.

slimarev92 ,

They don't have anyone nearly as good as him. People give Trump a lot of shit, deservedly so, but he's one hell of a politician. Nobody can galvanize their base like he does.

slimarev92 ,

I always thought Apple should make appliances. I say let them try.

slimarev92 ,

This lack of pragmatism is why leftists never win.

slimarev92 ,

The only thing premium phones have going for them are really good cameras. I love midrange phones but the photos they produce are not as good as flagships.

This Hacker Tool Extracts All the Data Collected by Windows’ New Recall AI ( www.wired.com )

When Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed the new Windows AI tool that can answer questions about your web browsing and laptop use, he said one of the “magical” things about it was that the data doesn’t leave your laptop; the Windows Recall system takes screenshots of your activity every five seconds and saves them ...

slimarev92 ,

Why on earth aren't they encrypting the database? It could have adressed much of the criticism but they just decided to leave the whole thing completely unprotected.

slimarev92 ,

They do?

slimarev92 ,

I dunno, they could've kept some of it in-memory, it's just a bunch of plaintext.

slimarev92 ,

The entire design is a copy, down to the art style and color scheme...

slimarev92 ,

At this point I can't tell the joke ones from the real ones.

Linus Tech Tips (LTT) release investigation results on former accusations ( x.com )

There were a series of accusations about our company last August from a former employee. Immediately following these accusations, LMG hired Roper Greyell - a large Vancouver-based law firm specializing in labor and employment law, to conduct a third-party investigation. Their website describes them as “one of the largest ...

slimarev92 ,

Yeah, but who pays for it then?

slimarev92 ,

Why would there be an automatic court case?

slimarev92 ,

Apparently they're going to address YouTube replacements in the second part of the series. Also I'm fairly sure they spoke about Youtube ReVanced a couple of times before.

slimarev92 ,

Why is he specifically a sex pest?

slimarev92 ,

Ten years of support is not that bad actually. Having said that, Linux is better in almost every way.

slimarev92 ,

There's nothing wrong with paper books.

slimarev92 ,

If you're copy pasting code you're not learning a whole lot.

slimarev92 , (edited )

Copy pasting code is THE WORST way to learn how to program.

slimarev92 , (edited )

True, but you can also ask for the number of the previous tenant?

slimarev92 ,

The whole product is a copyright suit.

slimarev92 ,
slimarev92 ,

Where would you put their data then? Self hosting is not exactly safe either.

At the end of the day, every approach has its tradeoffs. Using a reputable cloud provider is a very valid choice.

slimarev92 ,

Go is a good bet for first language.

slimarev92 ,

Is that a photo of his fingerprint on the right?

slimarev92 ,

Have yiubused Winget? It's a very flawed piece of software.

slimarev92 ,

Ubuntu is a piece of software. R1 is supposedly a piece of hardware that runs "Rabbit OS".

slimarev92 ,

The article (which nobody here bothered to open) says they'll still function as "dumb" thermostats, so actually it's less of a big deal.

slimarev92 ,

The article says that offline functions will continue to work. So they'll just become regular thermostats.

slimarev92 ,

Yeah, but think of the amount of damage that happens due to accidents where trucks are involved. If that can be substantially reduced it would be a huge win. We're talking about thousands of lives saved each year.
